If not for that flag stopping his ball, he gets either a 6 or 7 on that hole. Instead walks off with a 3. He hasn't even played well today and he's in contention. Like I said prior to the week, he's my pick.
There is a lot of skill in golf, but a ****load of luck too. We all know that. Go look at Palmer's response right after he hit his approach on 9, he dropped his club like it was terrible, ended up 5' from the pin.

We always say football is a game of inches, but golf compresses inches into millimeters...if your ball lands just in the perfect spot, it goes where you want it, if it doesn't, it could end up 20 yards right or left
Rose has played like crap this year. Interested to see if he can keep it going.

Wish Rose wasn't quite so far ahead but gut feeling is that he won't run away with it. Would be weird to see him win after having the back issues and playing so little lately.

First off he's only 3 clear of the others.
Second off he's lead setting like 4 times after Rd 1 and he has never been able to close the deal.

Sounds like he's been working hard on changes in taking the last month off. They held up well today, but it's definitely a crapshoot as to those holding up.

He flattened the sand before his swing. Should be a penalty. I think it's fine to assess. Now that the "signing an incorrect scorecard" penalty is out, I don't have an issue with the timing
He think he barely touched the sand before his backswing. Wonder how they stumbled upon it to call the penalty?

I have a pretty good guess about how everyone would view it if it really was Reed. IMO he brushed the sand, it removed some sand directly behind the ball, and that should be a penalty regardless of who hit the shot. Dude needs to be more careful with his club hovering. I'm willing to assume it was unintentional, but that's still a penalty

I'm a fan of Reed. Maybe one of 5 but even I can say what Ancer did isn't even close to what Reed did. Reed was obviously cheating. Ancer could have been an honest accident

It's garbage and obviously unintentional, but it's still the rules.

Unintentional or not, one of the penal (insert butthead laugh) aspects of the rule is that you are forced to hover and can't really get your club nestled in there. So intentional or not, he was certainly pushing it right up to the line. It's not a difficult rule to avoid violating unless you decide to really push it

These guys push the limits. I'm sure it wasn't intentional like fatrick, but it's still a penalty

Not if it's immediately in front of or behind your ball. And not on your backswing. Only inadvertent in other parts of the bunker

Indeed - I was just making a dumb drive by post.
While I'm not a fan of someone calling in from TV or using slow mo video hours after a round, penalties should apply across the board for whoever.
Still so strange watching the tournament without grandstands.

Very early but looks like easier conditions? The CM guys were saying so and seems like more brides.
Sean Foley interview just now has been really good on the driving range feed. I liked his "I'm never surprised when my guys play well and I'm never surprised when they play poorly."
I'm open to correction, but does it seem like a number of guys who have worked with Foley have had back issues? Or did they have them previously and they work with Foley because he's good at working around them?
I always root for Phil but damn how does he always start with a bogey on one.
