Back in Silverthorne, CO at my summer course. Not that I'm a great putter, but my putting average going up 4 and any putt over 4' being an adventure is a bit much.

You still playing The Raven each summer?

Slow start asI didn't get here until 7/1 and not full time for a week after that. Been playing a bunch to make up for it. The hall pass runs out on 5 days a week when the boss shows up next weekend, but will crank back up when she goes back to work in August.

Been playing consistently for the past couple of years and game is finally in a good spot, or so I thought. Last 5 rounds were 92, 85, 89, 83, 86. Talked mess to a guy at work who plays a lot and we decided to play for money last night. He shot a PB 86 and I shot a 104. F golf.

That tee shot on 17 was really bad. How a professional golfer can hit it that bad is amazing to me.

That's why I like to watch the early rounds, pre-cut when available on ESPN+. Even the best of Pros will make one realize they are human too.

Hey look, he's like the rest of us, even once in a Blue Moon! And we are like him, even less often.

I remember a discussion with my instructor and he pointed out one weekend Bubba Watson once shot a 60-something one day, and 80+ the next.....he said to me "golf always wins".

three weeks ago I shot my personal best 9 and it could have been 4/5 strokes lower if I had made some 10ft putts. Today I quit after hitting three balls in the lake on #8 (shots went 75 degrees right, just terrible contact). Literally have gone from playing my best golf ever, to not being able to get off the tee box with driver or even 3 wood (severe hooks), and cannot even hit my hybrids which were my go-to every day sure thing clubs.

Have a lesson set for Sunday, or its time to start playing pickleball.
What do you boys want for breakfast BBQ ?.....OK Chili.

No. It is not time for pickleball.

You will go to your lesson and hit the ball well. Maybe better than ever. You will go out and almost but no quite shoot your personal best, probably because of one ball shanked 75 yards to the right. But you will think you have it all figured out. Then, you will play again and the wheels will come off.
I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

So like always, F GOLF.

Anyone else had this? Take a lesson and play your worst round of the year the next day after? Yeah happened to me.

Took a lesson on Friday, love my pro, he is awesome. Identified immediately that I was swinging out to in, told me we will probably need 3-4 lessons to get it dialed in in to out, but wanted to work on adjusting my swing to the new path. 30 min later and I am locked in my new swing path. We were both shooketh. Spent the next thirty min going up and down the bag making sure I felt it on all clubs.

Feeling good, play in a mens tourny the next day, shot a freaking 101. Had to take max on two holes, just couldn't get anything right. Buddies all telling me to go back to my old swing. Played Sunday, Tuesday and Today to try and make the muscle memory, went 89, 84 and 88.

4 iron through 60 degree are now all hitting 20' higher, no loss in distance, drawing perfectly and sticking within 3 ft of divot on the green. Par 3's are now a dang near guaranteed par. Somehow can't hit my driver now AT ALL. Oh well, will keep grinding, will play tomorrow at noon and keep trying to figure out how to close the face on the driver and draw it. That said during the lesson hit 320 yards with my driver with a beautiful draw, just need that to stick.

F GOLF.

Last two 9-hole rounds and two rounds at the local Par 3 went great. Hitting my new irons better than ever.

Went to the grass range yesterday morning. Hit 75 balls with my irons....maybe 10 were good contact, the rest were fat (as in 3 inches behind the ball) or very thin. Had no clue what I was doing wrong. I took out my new 5-wood and proceeded to launch it straight down the range with good contact.....so suddenly I can't hit my irons, but I can hit a 5-wood.......
