Polarized vs Non-polarized sunglasses?

I am a tennis, sand volleyball, and golf player nowadays. I'm looking into buying some quality sunglasses that won't break as easily and that honestly don't look like crap. What do y'all suggest as far as lenses? I've read a lot about the benefits and downsides of having polarized lenses (blocking glare better, not seeing LCD screens) but was wondering if this is all true. Like I said, I'd be wearing them for those outdoor sports and driving as well. Worth the extra 40 bucks to add them to flak jacket xlj's?

Polarized. IMO Native is the best value in sunglasses.

For golf, never polarized. Flattens out contours on the green, making them harder to read accurately.

Honestly, non-polarized for two reasons.

1.) The glare from the grass (and there is glare there) is how you can read the greens.

2.) The glare from the ball makes it easier to track where it went.

I have had flak jacket XLJs polarized for a few years now, and I will never wear another pair. They are absolutely great. I wear them for tennis, running, golf, and everyday use. I don't usually hit or putt with them on in golf, because of the glare. Otherwise, they rarely leave my face.

honestly, I play golf the least out of the sports I play. So I think I could either wear another pair or take them off to putt and hit. Hmm..

Go for the flak jacket polarized. You won't regret it

I would say non polarized for me. I have probably had 20 pairs of oakleys, kaenons, maui jims, etc.. and I always go back to my oakley plain ol G30 lenses for golf. Suit me best

I don't wear sunglasses while golfing, however the one time I did wear my polarized lenses, I didn't like it.

You shouldn't read greens with polarized lenses for sure, but really you shouldn't with any kind of shades

I wear polarized most often but I often remove my sun glasses when putting so I can read the greens better. I do that regardless of whether I am wearing my polarized or non-polarized.

I find it much easier to see where my shots go with glasses

I dont know how people dont wear sunglasses when playing golf. The ball is too bright in the sun and the glare off the club is bright also. I cant even see my ball in the air without glasses, but I have blue eyes and they are super sensitive to light. I wear glasses pretty much everytime I play, even in overcast weather. I think its easier to read the greens in polarized lenses.

I have these Maui Jims.

If you are extremely adamant about having polarized lenses for normal use, flak jackets and half jackets have interchangeable lenses that are pretty cheap.

These are my glasses for any sport. Lifetime warranty that includes scratched lenses. I wore oakleys for a long time, but no more.

Flak Jacket XLJs are totally worth it I got a good deal on mine last week and they have rarely left my face. I've already played two rounds in them and love them.

I checked and they're not cheap. They're 95 bucks. If that's cheap to you, you must be doing pretty well for yourself, haha. I considered getting regular lenses with them and purchasing polarized lenses but the price is what gets me.

Right now I'm looking at custom polarized flak jacket xlj's for $230. I don't like the colors they come in for polarized.

Also, what do y'all think about asian fit? Do you own a pair of asian fit? What are the differences in flak jacket xlj asian fit and regular? I read somewhere that the only difference in those glasses was the size/shape of nose pieces. Truth?

I don't know the difference, but I have the regular ones.
TheEyeGuy

It's not quite the nose piece, but rather, how the frame fits. If you have a flat face and high cheek bones, go with asian fit. If you have a western face, go with standard. As to the cheap comment, I sometimes forget that cheap is relative. In my business, however, if you can get a set of alternate lenses for anywhere from $45 to $95, that's not a bad deal.

Blueblockers, depth perception seems sharper to me. I put with them on, tho most of the time,,I put with my eyes closed

Oakley's golf specific lens is g30. They did come out recently with a g30 polar.

I'm not going to be using these just for golf. I will use them while driving, playing sand vball, and tennis.
