Earley's Aggies end regular season ranked No. 10 by D1Baseball

By finishing the regular season with back-to-back wins vs. then-No. 13 Mississippi State, the Fightin' Texas Aggies stayed at No. 10 in the D1Baseball top 25 ahead of the postseason. Michael Earley & Co. enter the SEC Tournament at 39-13 overall with an 18-11 conference record.

In seven days, the top eight seeds will be revealed.

For now, Texas A&M is among the nation’s top 10 with a strong case to be one of those coveted national seeds.

For now, Michael Earley’s Aggies remain at No. 10 in the latest D1 Baseball top 25 as the postseason is officially on deck.

This comes after outlasting then-No. 13 Mississippi State in a haymaker-infused slug fest at Blue Bell Park. In a three-game series that featured 62 total runs, A&M bounced back from a Thursday bludgeoning to win back-to-back games to take the series.

The Aggie offense was on fire in Friday’s 11-9 win. Earley pushed to correct buttons and got clutch performances in Saturday’s 7-6 finale.

By beating the Bulldogs, A&M earned its sixth SEC series win of 2026. The Maroon & White finished the regular season at 39-13 overall and 18-11 in conference, good for third place despite being picked 13th.

Their case to host a regional is undeniable. The case to be a top-eight seed come Memorial Day is as strong as any.

“Our body of work speaks for itself. Our quality of wins. We’ve done it on the road. We’ve done it at home,” Earley said Sunday. “We’re about to be at full health here in just a few days. I think our resilience is something you can’t overlook, but our season and our body of work, to me, there’s no question in my mind that we deserve to be a top-eight. No doubt.”

Whether the selection committee agrees will be answered next week.

Between now and when the field of 64 is revealed is another chance for A&M to bolster its resume, this time at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala.

As the No. 3 seed, the Aggies will play Friday night. The possible opponent is a trio of familiar foes.

Will it be No. 14 seed LSU, which A&M swept in Baton Rouge last month?

Will it be No. 12 seed Oklahoma, which took two of three from A&M in Norman to open SEC play, including a rubber match played in tornado-force winds?

Or will it be No. 6 seed Auburn, which threatened to sweep the Aggies to begin May?

Those Hoover-specific answers will come shortly.

The more important questions will be revealed next Monday.
