Classic thread. Assuming you guys are right, most of the following would have to be true:

- Early (April) lists shouldn't suck.
- Players shouldn't move up or down based on film.
- The rate of recovery of a bad injury doesn't reflect a recruit's potential.
- Ketchum sees as much rival film as Texas film, in April
- Ketchum's sources are not Texas sources, who recruited the players in question.
- Freshman and Sophmore highly ranked recruits should crack the depth chart with higher ranked recruits in front of them.
- Highly ranked recruits avoid injury, and are never academic risks.
- Rival recruits never move down, and move down far. (See Texas sources again.)

It's hard to argue with the rankings of the top 10 over the past four years. It's amazingly accurate. I know that it's easier to fling around personnal attacks than really addressing the issue, but you might find that if your own gurus didn't screw the rankings up so bad and so continuously, you wouldn't be let down so hard.

Take a couple of deep breaths, and relax. The lists will be pretty accurate, come January.

I am not talking about the attrition under Fran. Yes, we have had about the same attrition as other schools since Fran has been here. We have also had really good recruiting classes, not atrocious ones. But we are on the we back under Fran. I said the reason for the downfall. The downfall happened under RC.

There was horrible, much documented, attrition in RC's last few years. It wasn't kids leaving because they weren't good enough. It was transferring to LSU, grades, injuries, discipline problems. There was an article in a Dallas paper that really detailed it. It was much worse than your average attrition. There were something like 20 kids who had left the program all on the defensive side of the ball, over just 3 or 4 classes. About 70-80% of the defensive recruits over those few classes were no longer on the team. That's why we had zero depth on defense when Fran arrived.

Rereading your post, I just realized that you probably weren't trying to argue this intelligently. Seeing as how this is on rivalries now, I guess you just want to argue and don't really care about logic or reason or thoughtful discussion, something one should never expect too much of from a sip on an Aggie board. I shouldn't have even responded.

Actually 24 players from his first 3 classes are no longer on the team. Brown lost 1 player during that span.

That is about on par for a new coach though.

The funny thing about this thread is that no aggie is willing to address the fact that if his rankings are so off and biased towards UT, then why do we keep beating you.

Every team has attrition.

Because Texas has signed better classes, Texas has lost more talent than A&M. Texas lost as many 5-stars to attrition as A&M has signed this millenium (Edorian McCullough, Marquis Johnson, Brian Pickryl, Marco Martin). Texas has lost at least as many 4-stars than A&M (Robert Timmons, Garnet Smith, Erick Jackson, Erik Hardeman, Chase Pittman, Albert Hardy).

I doubt Potts leaves even if he gets an offer from almight Texas. The offense doesn't fit the type of player he is.

You may be right, I wasn't trying to be arrogant as I like Tech. I just know some people in Abilene that stated he would cut off his non-throwing arm to play at Texas.

Now that was before his commit to Tech and things may have changed. He is listed as only a "soft" verbal, right?

yes that was Ketchum, and no that picture doesn't resemble him in any way shape or form today. He has dropped some serious weight and could give classes on getting yourself back in shape.

Just think, if Potts decommits from Tech and leans toward UT again he can reclaim his Top 10 spot. Sounds to me like an indirect way to try and sway commits away from schools that compete head to head with UT.

Anyone with Ketch's level of integrity should crawl under a rock. At the very least, the NCAA shouldn't allow these types of recruiting services to have any contact whatsoever with recruits.

shiner raider, my opinion hasn't changed. I didn't even know at one point he was a texas lean. I just don't think he's all that great. I think the two qbs best suited for the offense we run now, which is working really well, are Snead and harris. Harris is raw, but so was VY. Plus harris is a REALLY REALLY nice kid. If Potts or Stafford or whoever goes to Texas, that's great. But the two qbs that I want for texas are Snead and Stafford, with me wanting Stafford ahead of snead, becuase i've actually seen stafford play.

Bobby Burton himself is saying that Potts is most likely a 3 star QB.

Your websider boys re-ranked recruits after signing day in 2003. After Gatewood and Tate decommitted, Texas had more of the top-10, 20, & 50 players in the state. They fixed that right up.

Because they don't archive their rankings like Ketch does, it is impossible to prove that with a link.

Texas averaged 23 attempted passes this year, A@M averaged 28.66. Of course, A&M had to throw a lot more in several games because they were behind.

Potts is maybe the 1st or 2nd best qb in the state of TX and I don't know why Ketch does it. It is a pure fact that since tu did not offer him, he dropped. I know that ketch liked stafford then Potts second. It is just about pmping up tu's guys.

in defense of tu, Derke Robinson looked very very good. I like him over V McGee and J Evans.

Websider is biased, but they have stuck with who they like. They have said theyliked Snead the best since December. they have stated they like Moody the best since Dec and alanz said he liked Goodson. They have said that Eddie Jones was one or two in Tx. Tarp has said that he thinks that Kindle is not a lb and has said it since December.

I dont think it is as much about the rankings is how ketch moves the rankings to fit his objective instead of sticking to his guns. GD, have a freakin' backbone.

here is the big deal, you guys have beat our ass, ou has beat your ass, we have managed to play ou pretty tough and win a few times. But anyways, what matters is how you do in the end, but somehow Ketch thinks that you guys winning the recruiting national championship is a accolade for him and that he helped. It is not, the recruuting ranking is bs.

I have to give it to burton with rivals that got this stupid ranking thing as such a hot commodity. If you think about it, he made this into fantasy football. Who gives a crap if Coffman is a high 3 star or 4 star, bottom line is the stud can play and we fought the best to get him. The problem is it has become a game with so many. I really hate it.

I have the subs because I love the players, recruiting is all about the players. I don't care about the stars, I just love the players.

The integrity has been lost and Ketch has no backbone. It is not Ketch's list anymore, it is tu's list. It should be a sin. I actually think that Ketch has a lot of talent evaluating players, but if he is going to skew it each time, then it is not worth a crap.

Tech guys, Potts is a top dog qb. You got a good one. He is one of the few that has NFL size. Latreal Cooper I specifically asked Ketch when he had him rated at number 9 or 10 and he said he is probably ranked alittle too high, but he could be that good. Then he goes off the chart. Come on!!!!!!!!!!

Tu guys, don't go defending this. Have some backbone and just admit this is all about the money. You guys have too many good players committed, you don't have to skew this crap. It is about how these players play in a orange uniform. for us it is about how the guys play in a Maroon uniform..

It has been said that Ketch likes to bragg about all of the lap dances he's received from various strippers. You know that none of those skanks ever felt "him"...anyone ever see a dewlap get erect? Follow Ketch to the strip clubs and you just might witness it.
