Don't worry about the rankings. They will lose Sheppard and we will gain him plus we are set to add another 4 star, with a possible bama flip. We will finish ahead even if they were allowed to count transfers in a class (they don't).

You try too hard. Texas has out recruited A&M just about every year since forever. Surely it is gonna payoff soon right? No amount of cute nicknames is gonna change the fact that you jag offs show up around here every year with your fluffed up recruiting rankings. Then you wear it all over your face in September when BYU or Maryland shows up.

If that win wasn't something that 80%of teams in Texas' position also won, it would mean a lot more. We beat a team that thrashed that Georgia team WHEN IT MATTERED AND AT FULL STRENGTH. We'd also be favored over Texas on a neutral field. Perhaps you should ask yourself how good a team that couldn't even crack the top 50 on either side of the ball really is. Texas has some really terrible losses, which Herman does every single year. But you want to ignore that and focus on one win against a team that became just the 4th straight team in their position to lose their bowl.

But he didn't. In 2018 he did well in state. A big part of that was a perfect storm at Texas' two primary recruiting rivals. They completely changed this year. He HAD to go out of state. His recruiting is incredibly mediocre where it counts the most-up front. And Texas just enjoyed the biggest rating inflation I've ever seen. No new games to evaluate. No new tape. Just all the sudden multiple guys with 3 star offer lists got MASSIVE bumps with zero justification. For reference, our recruits collectively jumped 10 spots last time. Texas' jumped 924 spots. 924. Tyler Owens moves to being a FIVE star and yet...no Top 25 programs offered him but Texas. That's unheard of for any 5 star player.

Add to this that sip mods don't even think Owens will be a year 1 contributor, where other 2019 secondary recruits may be able to come in and contribute. If the kid is a 5 Star, he should be able to come in and compete right away for playing time.

Only the longhorns get 5 Star briskets, everyone else recruits 5* contributors. If a kid can't dominate in high school, he isn't a 5*, regardless of his perceived ceiling. Rankings shouldn't be about potential, but should be about current ability.
