Is it weird a player so highly regarded only took one OV and it was very late in the process? Like a week before he signs?!

OTH, are some of these Longhorn commits guys most elite programs know won't qualify and so they don't bother. Some players that won't qualify aren't highly ranked. Once the Longhorns offer, the recruiting people think he'll qualify and boost his rating, only to see the kid never enroll/qualify.

Seems there was some of this stupidity with Charlie Strong signing all the Florida (5? or 4?) with Cherry. They all wanted to play together but in the end, only one qualified and made it to campus.

There is a reason he wasn't recruited by a P5 team. Either he isn't that good, or he isn't going to make it on campus. If he doesn't make it to campus, the Recruiting orgs don't get exposed for players over inflated.

Different situation. Baylor players were released from LOI's prior to enrolling in classes. McCoy has enrolled at USC and his LOI is no longer relevant. He is a transfer like any other.

They hadn't enrolled. They weren't transfers.

But I love how focused you are on "class rankings." Herman got his ass kicked in state this year. That's continuing. He's also getting his ass kicked up front where it really matters. That's one of the big flaws in the rankings. They value skill position guys - no matter how many a team has - just as much as front 7 guys when it's not nearly as valuable. Texas won't ever be a factor if they don't improve their recruiting up front.
