i want to say the dub's post is a spot of greatness in the otherwise mucked up thread d***bolls has made.

oh and could have something to do with running into Ol' Ags all over the world and instantly recognizing each other. the summer before my senior year, i spent 9 weeks in various European countries. a couple of the guys in our group had their rings already. i can remember that we got stopped by Aggies of all ages in at least 5 countries we visited without any other Aggie gear on.

Techgunner - All schools do have rings. I think noted, even by you, is that most other schools until recent years did not have one official ring. Rather they had numerous variations being offered to their alum. That coupled with the ridiculously high percentage of Ags that have a ring and wear it daily lends itself to being a tradition.
Side note - I remember about ten years ago when my dad decided to buy an Ohio State ring, the big speel in his alumni magazine as they were going to one universal ring, was to create a tradition at Ohio State similiar to that of Notre Dame, A&M and West Points ring.
