Wonder what coaches Vic takes with him Blair's gone don't know about the others but I figure if Johnnie isn't hired Vic will save a spot for her on the Texas staff.

Wow, just saw this and shocked. I didnt know he was from Austin but he had everything at Miss St. Well that makes the move closer to College Station once Blair is out.

State predicted as #3 nationally with the #3 recruiting class coming in.

I figured State will still be good but will take some time with a new coaching system. Wonder if the recruits will want to transfer now.

Will definitely be interesting to watch Vic and Mulkey across from one another when the two teams play each other.

I hope that Vic does so well at t.u. that it forces A&M to get their head out of their A$$ and force Blair to retire. Blair can't compete in the SEC, much less nationally. The special treatment of Chennedy ruined things for a lot of players and future recruits (I know that for a fact). I'm tired of being mediocre, tired of a school not promoting our program. We need someone that's going to come in here and light a fire under this program and Blair has sizzled out. How can you not notice the lack of respect the players have for The coaches? It's blatant on the sidelines. It's disheartening. Just ready to be better, do better and this isn't it!

I agree. Another case where we fail to manage effectively at the AD level. New AD felt like he had to take it easy. Well that is not good management. Do your job.

I have a real good business friend that is a huge State supporter and the consensus opinion around Starkville is that Vic is the best coach they have ever had in any sport. Big loss for them and big loss for the SEC and really no help for us. Makes life tougher for all three schools in the Centex triangle.

Gary built our program from nothing. I'm not saying that's a free pass, but combine that with the NC and more recently the Carter get and it's hard to argue he's lost it. I think he deserves to decide when he's done as long as he continues to reach the S16 and E8 level. The final four is within reach from those two rounds.

I do think we need to show more during the season and being knocked out of the conference tournament in the first game is unfortunate. And replacing Chennedy is an opportunity to repair the supposed damage done by the coaching staff supposedly favoring her. Though if they had to give up her production to keep Anriel and Danithe former consistent mainly cleaning up rebounds and undersized and the latter just streaky often in the wrong direction in clutch situationsit wouldn't be a good trade off. Chennedy was a generational talent who we watched mature into being a very good team player. I'm so glad she chose Texas A&M.

TL;DR? Blair had them tuned towards the end of the season for a run. As he always does...

All one has to do is look at the most recent performance over the past 5 years. NC or not. A good coach stays on top of the game, recruits, strategizes before and during a game, handles adversity, etc. We should be consistently in the top 10 and we are not close. The little lady in Waco is always there because she knows how. Gary must expect us to just be there and compete. Well I want to win and with the money we have invested in all the programs that is what I expect across the board.

This has nothing to do with Gary being a nice guy, passes out candy, goes to church, takes guys on a golf tournament, drinks good liquor, laughs, etc. Winning is the only measure of a coach.

We got snookered again because we let a coach leave on his terms.

Going out on your terms should have an expiration date. Personally, I think 70 years of age is a reasonable one.

Gary will leave our program in the same shape he found it when he was hired. Baylor and t.u. has run us out of the state of Texas. The elite players go to Baylor and now t.u. even more so with Vic's hire. Or to UCONN, Duke, or N.Carolina or Louisville.

Just Chennedy by herself puts the lie to the notion Gary can't get elite players. If you're more focused on them coming from Texas, I'll simply note he has had very good Texas players along with good national recruits. Plus his best players are national recruits.

I also think his back to back S16s are commendable. The previous three years with a first round and two second round exits were less wonderful, but those three years followed an E8, a S16, and the championship year as three out of the four previous years. Two of the three years were with CWalk and CWill as juniors and seniors. I think we have a good picture of why that didn't work out but CWalk was a great player who just didn't have the pieces in place to fully succeed. And CWill kinda rebelled against being successful (though I'm sure that was Blair and staff's fault too somehow.)

The third one was more of a rebuild that exceeded expectations.

Blair always has a better team in February and March and usually does well. We can't count this year against him because his team definitely was healthy and we will never know how far they would have gone.

I would have been delighted to have Vic. Still would. But firing Blair to get Vic would have set back our program reputation wise. Be patient. Blair likely will not prolong your feigned agony...

Just watched the VS interview on LHN. I just threw up a little in my mouth!

If anybody can put Mulkey in 2nd Place In the Big 12, it'd be Vic!

Blair didn't win a natty. Blair & Vic won a natty. Since then Vic has dominated. What soured me on Blair was two things. First was the fact he never had a bench after 2012. Basically he had a starting 5 & maybe 2 players (often only 1) on the bench. Second, by his own admission here on TexAgs interviews, he doesn't coach. He's got an O coach & a D coach to do that. By his own admission, he's only a game day coach. How many times have we watched him trying to get O players in position to run his play. I can't count the times. He's an old 74 year old guy that just let his best friend & A&M's next great coach accept a job at TU. To me, it's all about 74 year old Gary & that's unforgivable.

Oops, my mistake. I didn't realize TU signed the #3 coach in WBB , Schaffer '61 years old, for $1.5 Million. I'm guessing A&M passed because they've got a 74 year old, HOF coach for $800K.
After Jimbo, Buzz & Pat I guess we've got to draw a line at some point.

Chennedy did get special treatment, every star player does. Danny threatened to transfer after EVERY season. They got tired of it and even try to talk her out of it. Anriel thought Vic could make her a 1st round pick. Both players didn't like all the publicity Carter was getting.

My experience? There's always enough light to shine for everybody. How many scouts watched A&M this year? You think that Carter was the only player they asked about? No......

You could say that a week ago. Not sure you can say that now. I'm shocked he left State. But he did.

Oh well. It might not be "our loss", but we did lose the possibility.

If we ever need a women's BB coach, should go after the Drake coach. She is really good. They were here in the regional last year I think. Her kids were smart, didn't make many mistakes, and played really hard.

In agreement ~ and they are still great friends, even as competing head coaches!

But while Vic seems to be the better game planner and tactician, he is a far better recruiter of talent. I feel that his immediate presence at tu will outshine Aston and would ultimately come to rival that of Jodi Conradt!

His ability to recruit in-state talent will be a pain in the butt to both Blair and Mulkey!

And I didn't think I could possibly be more disappointed with the program, Athletic Department and whoever else should care about it.
First, despite some discussions here over the years it sure looks like Vic could have been persuaded to "come home" to A&M.
Second, again per discussions here, Vic might not be perfect but the way the program is going, whatever we wind up with whenever and however Blair retires won't even be in the same ball park (or arena if you will).

Pull up Vic's Facebook page and see if you notice anything odd? He also hasn't said his goodbye to the fans, university or players. Meanwhile Joe Moorehead bought lunch for Starkville PD today.
