Others can chime in... Huge savings right now. Where do we see energy prices in the middle of summer? Don't electricity prices usually rise in the summer?

As I've never cancelled early, I assume if I just go ahead and sign up with a new providier my current provider will just add the cancellation fee to my final bill?

I'll find out but I think with their business model I should be okay.

Since they pay the provider directly and then bill me I think they more than likely bundle a bunch of us together.

The cheapest rate that Southern Federal has on their website is .063 on a variable account or .076 on a 3 month.

I'm in Harris county and got the same type of email.

Anyone else see a $150 TDU Pass-Through Charge on their bill for March??

Amigo says it's some PUCT directed fee that everyone is paying. I don't believe a word Amigo says for the record…

What TDU are you under, I didn't get anything extra from Oncor last month.

Just renewed with Frontier on the plan below. It was the best option from Texas Power Guide / Rate Grinder. It took a little time to do it over the phone. They didn't want to give it to me because it's only for new customers but I held firm that I would be switching if I didn't get it.

I have an unlock code through July. DM if you want it.

I received my first bill from Thigbe (for a partial month).

I used 474 kWh and the total bill from the supplier was $39.75 or about .079 including the TDU Delivery and Meter charges.

Thigbe added $2 for them and $1 for the Association of Former Students for a total bill of 42.75 all in.

Bump. It's time for me to renew so I went looking for the link in this thread. Thought someone else may want it too.

Time for me to renew mine as well. My expiring contract is $0.11 now. I already didn't feel that was great. But based on a cursory review of rates, it definitely seems like I'll be taking an increase. Yeah.

They literally bumped up .01 overnight when this freeze came in more clearly. Give a little time after it passes. If nothing major happens it hopefully should drop back down.

Amigo Energy was the cheapest one I found recently. Its 9 cents/kwh. My electric bills have been a lot cheaper. Ive been very happy with them.

My gosh...

I'm paying $0.176 p/kWh with Octopus Energy in Lubbock. I'm paying more now than I ever did in the past. Last year, I was paying roughly $0.138 p/kWh through Lubbock Power and Light. De-regulation came along and now everything is more expensive. Some friends that went with Reliant are paying more than I am. Bad deal, stupid deal...hate it.

I locked in a 12 month back in April at 0.13/kw. Seems that I would have been much better off doing 3 month plans and just keep signing up. Anyone floated multiple short term agreements or am I teeing myself to get burned with that strategy? I understand it's probably a pain administratively, but what am I missing?

The delta between the rates <1000kwh vs 1000-2000kwh vs 2000+ kWh frustrate me to no end.

I'm <1000kwh for 4 months a year on average, in the mid range for 3 months on average, and over 2000kwh for 5 months on average. I filter by the large home but even at 12c for those higher months I get fked over the rest of the year because the rates for the lower tiers get pushed up to around 20c.

This model is stupid. I remember when they would all be within a couple cents of each other for the various tiers.

I hear ya. I assume you're already doing this, but just in case, make sure you filter your search to exclude the plans that offer usage credits because, like your post implied, it's a game they design for you to lose.

The other thing is to make sure to check the Energy Facts Label because sometimes the difference between tiers is just tied to the monthly base charge (they're prorating it on a per-kWh basis across the different usage tiers to give you that average). These used to top out at $5 a month but recently I've seen providers charge up to $50 so they can offer a low per-kWh rate to lure you in. There are providers out there who offer fixed-rate plans with no base charge; ideally, those are the ones you want. I found one like that from Varsity Energy about a month ago; it may still be out there.

Best of luck to you. The system we have can be wonky but at least we still have a choice.

Classic tier pricing strategy. Smart move on their part; sucks for us.

We just renewed at 15c for 2 years. In hindsight, I should have rolled month to month and waited to see if this will come back down under Trump Admin. I was paying 8c under Trump and then it doubled under Biden. For those that can stomach it, you could pay the 20c month to month plan and see if prices start to drop under a more friendly energy admin.

You would be timing the market though which can always burn your ass.

I'm averaging out to around 14-15c on this current plan. I'm on a 48 month term and will absolutely pay the $250 cancellation fee if it gets down around 10c again.
