Kidding aside I saw that Tom Lee is now bearish and calling for a 7-10% pullback, usually he is dead wrong the 1-2 times a year he turns bearish (or less bullish) but I think that he may be right this time.
Think OXY is at a buy zone. Strong support down here since 2022. Might be worth a look at a bounce.

I need to see something seriously impulsive in O&G soon or I'm likely going to get stopped out on most plays and looking for a lot more bear in the coming weeks to months. OXY is in a great position here from an R/R perspective, but I'm not jumping in yet because its just too ugly in the sector and I want to see proof of a bottom. No bottom has been able to hold for most of the year in the macro O&G sector.

I hear you. That's the main reason I sold puts rather than buying the current dip outright. Oxy would be a long term hold for me so am fine starting a position with sub $54 basis and layer in from there over the coming months if it slides.Heineken-Ashi said:

In 2008, XLE sold from $90 to $37 between June and October. Rates were first cut in September 2007, so not directly applicable. But it WAS an election year.
In 2020, XLE sold from $76 in Oct 2019 to $22 in March 2020.
Granted those were two of the worst selloffs in market history, but as I've said many times before, given the macro economy conditions we are in, this soft landing talk is getting weaker and weaker, and just about everything from rates, to energy, to jobs are starting to show serious cracks that point to deep recession or worse on the horizon. Be very very careful with your longs here.

Yeah we were in the spy 520 range a month ago, I think we at least retest that in the next 8 weeks.
