Look at the fib/MT levels from Friday's move. We kept hitting resistance at the .382, then .50 served as resistance with .618 serving as support. Look for more chop around here.

MARA threw a big red hanging man on Friday on decent volume. Didn't get much attention but has traded down some today, still within long tail from Friday. Reversal here possible as many tech/crypto/equity trend lines are slamming into resistance.

Just logged into my account for the first time since Friday close, and apparently I now own 800 more shares of XOM unexpectedly. I had expiring $116 calls, but I didn't exercise them. Haven't called broker yet but jeez, and about half of it was bought on margin. How the hell does that happen?

If they're in the money at expiration, they're going to get exercised.

Assuming this is true, why were those calls exercised?
This is my question. I assume it's a setting when you buy. But I always thought an "option" had to be exercised. In the legal world, it does or it expires.topher06 said:

I guess I can sell 8 contracts of Friday $117+ calls now and either collect premium or make a little cash
I know they would automatically exercise if you were well in the money, but I'm surprised they auto exercise at exactly breakeven.

A short position below 418.31 and even 415.09 is fine as long as strike not too far OTM and too close to expiration.
I opened shorts on Fri for 405P 3wks out. Fireworks tomorrow or Wednesday. China stirring waters anyway. Literally.

The only pattern that looks any good to me right now is the ascending channel going back a month+, if you worked at it you could find h&s forming at several points over the last couple weeks but they keep falling apart. That channel keeps holding.
I am probably completely wrong but i have started thinking of patterns like poker hands. H&s is your flush or full house, big win if it hits but low probability of hitting it. Basic s&r levels are your pairs, the channels are like 2pr or 3 of a kind...high probability, chip stacking hands. Pennants/flags are higher probability but the flop could send it either way...
I like how the uber chart looks. Might need to consolidate more before it moves, but I think it will move.
