Still in OSTK if anyone followed me on it. We got within 7 cents of stopping, but I knew that was a good level. I'd like to exit later this week, ideally at $27-$28.

I buy significantly out-of-the-money puts on leveraged index funds (theory being that I also benefit from natural decay). I use double leveraged, or ideally triple-leveraged ETFs. I treat these positions as "catastrophic insurance coverage", like flood or hurricane insurance. I don't expect to make money on them (and they mostly expire worthless), but will incrementally scale out of them if they go in my favor early.
A current example: I was concerned several weeks ago about the NASDAQ getting overheated.
TQQQ 10/21/2022 $30 Puts. Bought at $1.71 per contract. Sold a few the other day at $3.05, and had a sell order for $5.00 in today (which didn't execute). Last trade was $4.70.
I am not trying to match or perfectly insulate my long holdings, but simply protect some of my gains in the case of a reversal, and also place a bit of a bet on a counter-trend. A simple risk management technique.
It's not for everybody, for sure. Open to other ideas.

I still also have AMD short calls. Sold at 12, worth 4 now. I think you could hold until expiration probably, but I think I'll unload tomorrow most likely and look to resell on a spike.

If you took the trade posted a few weeks ago and haven't trimmed or sold....maybe don't be greedy. Up almost 40%. Sell covered calls or take a net free position at the least.

I think they are going to push back up towards top of pattern to lure in new bulls and then September it to the downside.
I'd actually draw this as a megaphone down, but that's just me. I know a lot of traders are drawing this as a channel down, but this is my take. Your take on a relief bounce is probably spot on. After that though, I think September will be pretty bloody. McInnis's post a few pages back was showing SPX seasonality in a midterm election year. On average we sell, sell sell into first week of October. Oh, found it! see below:

My SQQQ play is based on the megaphone and model t. Simple plan. Will I miss some great intraday moves? Yes.
