Wonder if we will get some profit taking before the holiday weekend.

Farmer,
Thanks for posting that. So if the general consensus Is that oil prices will continue skyrocketing and food prices will continue to go up throughout the year due to diminished wheat exports and really high fertilizer prices, how do we capitalize/protect ourselves? If some level of global famine / Arab spring type situation unfolds next year, what moves can I make now?

1. O&G exposure
2. Domestic fertilizer companies like UAN
3. Agricultural companies?
4. Stockpile food?

Other ideas? I know I'm going to look back and ask myself how I missed some obvious investment.

Remember to watch SPX as well. If the first few 5-min candles of TSLA go opposite of SPX, you've got a higher risk of it reversing.

Didn't Musk announce yesterday or day before that the new Twitter deal wouldn't put TSLA stock as margin anymore. Seems like it takes off some of the potential political pressure to tank that stock.

yeah, need marcos to pull back too. My resistance on TSLA is $730. See if it can break that, if not I think it will pull back to $~700

XOM I think will take a breather and backtrack to $92-$88. I'll reload if it does. ... Assuming my Calls get exercised today. Earlier projections, by end of year I thought XOM at $105 (inside range high) to $120 (outside range high). Looks like there's a good chance to see the outside range high.

As for Ukraine, if you are invested in the WEAT fund, this info input translates to a hold. It's Bullish info. Moving forward,...if you've never seen people react when they are hungry (I don't mean missing a meal - I mean a few days without food) this lockdown on grains could escalate crises around the world for those that depend on imported grains for sustenance.

Just so I am clear, the OIH, is that Van Eck ticker or an acronym I am not familiar with? I think you are asking the difference between oil field services vs O&G companies, right?

Yes that's correct. It's the Van Eck thing.

I follow it as a ticker but have never traded or invested. It just seems to have dramatic moves.

But can u comment on some pros/cons of investing money there vs say CVX/XOM/MRO?

Taking more TQQQ profits today. Trailing stop at 1.5%.

My one regret is I didn't go in harder with all my available cash last week.

From 3/29 high to 5/20 low, 38.2% is ~411.70, 50% is ~421.30
We're right at the 38.2% now. This could be a roadblock

Good questions. That's a lot to unpack. I don't have definitive answers. Here are some random-ish thoughts below.

I like O&G for the next 12 to 18 months in over weighted positions. FJB keeps emptying out the SPR giving it to Europe to combat high crude prices, maybe he doesn't realize he'll have to refill it?

I own BG because they have a deal with CVX. I'll be out of BG some time next year. Agriculture usually turns things around fairly quick. You'll see USDA start allowing CRP acres and other Gov't programs lands taken out of production get an allowance to come back into production on a temporary basis if food is a problem.

I own MOS because phosphate is the most important mineral nutrient to sustain life period. Nitrogen gives you yield, phosphorous gives you life.

Stockpile food?, I own about a 2 month supply of MRE's for 3 people. I just went through a power outage and we were getting ready to bring these MRE's out of storage, but we got our power back (yea!). I don't have a lot of food stored up and that will not change. I guess I'll deal with it at that time. I do think our food supply is fine. Now, if FJB starts giving grains and food products away like the SPR crude, that's a different story.

I am looking at a whole house generator for power. I was without power for 4 days in Memphis and 7 days without water in St. Joseph, MO and 1 1/2 days without power last week. By far, I can manage without water easier than being without power. Those small flashlights with radios and a generator crank to produce power for your phone....it took 15 minutes average of continuous cranking to get 1% of power to your phone. You'll burn more calories getting 5% of power to your phone and want to eat afterward! I have looked at portable generators, but I think I am going whole house.

I admit it's a glass half empty mindset.

I expect another downturn eventually so I'm happy to take the profits I can and wait.

yeah here... bought verticals around 2.50, sold around 70% gain, should've held one for expiration, it would be 4x.
All good, rolled profits into SPY veritcals and calls (all out of those now too, stress free day now!)

I was in and out in 13 minutes. At the time it felt like a perfectly executed trade and it achieved my goal in the trade. For that I am happy. The what if is a kick in the nuts though.

Not saying that's a good or bad move, just found it funny you got out of risky stocks to get into 3x leveraged positions.

Let's just say I had more faith in my technical analysis of the indexes than I did these others. Question I have now is, when do I bail and go back to being cash heavy.

I think UPRO gets to 53 or so before we really know if wr are in a bear market or not. I wanted to maximize this bounce as much as I could.
