HBO just released a two part documentary on the GME fiasco

Apple+ also released a Jon Stewart episode diving into GME and robinhood/citadel

It's possible the news has resurfaced due to renewed interest

JB Hunt transport company, JBHT, looks like it's holding up well so far. Will this company also suffer for the higher gas prices?

Had the pleasure to meet Johnelle Hunt about 7-8 yrs ago. Dynamic woman…even in her 80s. She was still CEO at that time. Her husband died from a subdural hematoma, if I recall. He slipped and fell on ice after his colleagues begged him to not go out in the ice. Anyway, some sideways history.

But I'm surprised to see that stock holding up given soaring gas prices. Can only raise shipping costs so much before people just won't pay for it, right? Seems a perfect storm is yet brewing….

Flight from Tokyo to London used to be 11 hours flying through Russia. Now it goes East over Canada to get to London. Adds about 3 hours to the flight. Flying is going to be expensive

Best gin I've had is Nolet's. Nothing else is close, IMO.

On my list. I had some awesome gins in Amsterdam then went on a kick trying different ones here and always go back to good ol bombay. Don't like hendricks, tanqueray no ten isn't worth the price, all the artisanal ones taste like potpourri in lysol...

This gin is actually from Netherlands. I usually get silver, but was at a meeting last year in Miami and got to try the gold label Nolet's. $120 for one pour. Delicious.

I love gin. But no gin is worth that much. There isn't enough to the process.
BaylorSpineGuy

The silver is more reasonably priced….$40-50 a bottle. The gin I had in Miami was crazy marked up at a high-end hotel on South Beach.

$SLB - are you seeing what I'm seeing?

Side bar $SLB story. When I was an undergrad, I interviewed with Schlumberger. This was when energy prices were pretty low, but they were always hiring. The manager / interviewer told me I didn't fit the profile of someone who would be successful at Schlumberger. I asked him what he meant, he said he didn't think I would be willing to work hard. Highly offensive to me at the time, really funny in retrospect. I don't remember the guys name, but he was an Ag. He'd be a grandpa now. Don't ever doubt that things work out the way that they're supposed to work out!!

Schlumberger has a different culture. Anyone they hire out of college is in a rotational program usually in some far off land working rig work. Offshore Angola, Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, east coast of Russia, etc. they also expect you to move to the next assignment at the drop of a hat. If you join the org through acquisition or later in career you most likely do not have as upward a career as someone that was brought in from the start.

What's the story about "all else being equal, if i have to chose between a lazy guy and a really hard worker I'll choose the lazy guy every time, because he'll find a more efficient way to do the job"
But slb wants early career people who will bill countless hours while on salary

I ate dinner at Bobs in Dallas tonight. The place was packed. Driving back I paid attention to other restaurant parking lots and they were packed. At least from this small observation, people aren't cutting back

As long as rates are low the middle class won't substantially cut back. Once rates begin to rise the middle class with join the lower class in lowering their standard of living.

For a great value gin, try Sipsmith. Toured their distillery Friday night, great folks. Been a fan for several years now. Tiny little place for the volume they do.

Their lemon and orange ones are great but not sure they are available in the USA yet.

Disagree with this immensely and I know how unpopular that will be. You're backing a company that divested it's US frac business. That's where money has always been when it's going well and we are about to get to a point where we have to pick up the slack for Russia to supply Europe with hydrocarbons. SLB will still help in the MWD and DD process but the margins there aren't what they are for frac'ing. You want to be in companies heavy into the frac business right now and that's HAL.

Freight costs what it costs, mileage/fuel surcharges are pass throughs. So customer pays for both, but rising input costs on having to pay reliable drivers more prob weighing on it.
