What's the consensus with DNN? I was expecting a healthy bounce off the channel support line, but it pretty much just blew through it. Is there news besides a mild variant of Covid with a scary name out there?
All the small caps have been getting hammered.

Think the year end tax loss harvesting is also in play.
I wonder why last year at this time everything was up in those plays.

Back to the wash sale rules for a quick question. Say I have a position in WWR that has substantial paper loss that I could realize by selling, but I have FOMO of a spike. If I buy January call options first, then sell the stock with the loss do I lose the ability to deduct the loss?

I don't think so, you can always deduct your losses even if you still have a position in the stock.

You can sell Dec 17 MARA calls at 80 strike for $1 right now...pocket premium or a $25 gain in stock price in 2 weeks

Nevermind, misread the timing part. Still trying to wrap my head around the strategy though.

I'd check, but I believe this is correct. Do you have to buy the calls and then sell then next day? Really not sure there but definitely find out if the same date for your sale and purchase hurts you here. You can't sell the shares first and then buy the calls without a wash sale.

Maxine Waters speaking again (9:35am central time)

- Asks Powell to comment on this idea and he refuses.

McHenry speaking again (9:42am central time)
- Accuses democrats of wanting to increase inflation with spending bills
- Asks Yellen if they overshot with February stimulus spending
- Yellen avoids question and McHenry asks again and she says no, they didn't overshoot in February
- Yellen says the stimulus spending is a small contributor to inflation. Most comes from supply chain issues
- McHenry blames Biden administration for inflation

Perlmutter speaking now (9:48am central time)

My interpretation of the rule is that yes, you would lose the ability to deduct the loss. The rule states buying back the stock or a "substantially identical" security which I would say a Call option would be.
I did this with RDS last year and this seems to be the accurate way to account for it as Fidelity did not count the full loss when I did the call option immediately after selling

Anybody here pretty familiar with TDameritrade and determining profit/loss for tax purposes? Id like to pick your brain
Basically, I can find a couple different profit/loss numbers and I want to make sure I'm looking at it correctly and do the right thing.

Bicycle chart was just one week late. Spy 55 day ema appears to be right at 455, I'll go in big if we can tag it

Another leg down and we get another chance at this. Looking for 455.4 now

Wow...tagged 455.3, my conditional order for a couple expiring 458 calls filled at 1.4. Let's see how this pans out.

Shbm
Had an order to sell 1 for 2.8 at open to go net free. Filled at 4.18 Set an order to sell the other for 4.5 as I had $7 as a clean target for the spy max gain on a post-bicycle green schlong day. That filled pretty much right away. Now I think we hit and hold 470 by/on Friday, grabbed a couple 467/469 spreads for .49

Close above 147.28 today and I think it's game on.

Goodness SPY. I started the day selling a 12/1 $459C I grabbed near the end of yesterday looking for the overnight boost. It did that and doubled. I should have held since it has now doubled again from it's open. But with Fed speaking I didn't trust it. One day, I'll let it ride and win, one day.

If DIS holds in this area, it's Linda Raschke's 3-bar triangle setup. You then go with the break of the 3-day high, or 3-day low that follows.

Can you expand on this a bit? What's the three bar triangle setup?

not getting great google search results, just a lot of chatter about how to code for it.

Taking a giant leap in faith on the Santa rally for next week. AAPL 12/10 182.5C. Let's see how this goes. I think the rest of this week looks promising for quick moves.
