Since he is short on the options, the BTC one is for a loss yes, but the STO new contract is for a higher credit. I haven't rolled a lot of options but I thought the literature I read in the past treated that as a wash sale if you took a loss on an option and rolled out to a later expiration date
Think of it the same as you buy 100 shares of something at $10/share and then again at $5/share. If you then sell at 7.5/share. There is a loss on the $10 shares but it is cancelled by the $5 shares. There's a wash there also but because it is instantaneous you don't see it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought wash sales were for gain/loss on the same security (e.g. MSFT, XOM). A MSFT 8/20 call is a demonstrably different security than a MSFT 8/27 call, just like a MARA 8/20 38c is demonstrably different from a MARA 8/20 40c

DVCR this morning released news that they have a party interested in them at $10.10 a share.....it's trading at $6 a share......what am I missing?
It is somewhat more complicated than that, but I think the short answer is as long as he doesn't take a net loss on the series of transactions (and keeps it within the same calendar year) it doesn't matter.
The option is an ITM short put so can be looked at as he has the obligation to buy the shares, so it is/was a similar security.

Ok support question
WWR closed below the $3.45 yesterday at like $3.39. It is barley back above. If it closes above $3.45 today is that a bullish signal that support is holding or does it matter because it already closed below $3.45 yesterday?
Trying to figure out If a stock closed below support multiple days in a row then regains support, is it bullish or is it too late because it has already fallen below support.

I'm glad this is behind us. It has been a very frustrating time to trade. I have given up 40% of my 2021 gains over the last 2 months. Onwards and upwards from here.

If you find the low value from today, look at it on multiple timeframes. You are looking for this..
And of course it closes on $3.45 on the damn money lol

Been watching this thread for over a year now but pretty much never post. Don't have much to contribute. I don't day trade and probably never will. But I have learned a lot here. This thread made me realize that it's OK to invest in more than just index funds. That alone can be life changing. I have been in on a few big MA picks and have gone net free on MGNI, CIDM, WARM & SHOP to name a few. Fayth Ham is a student at College Station High School and has earned the opportunity to represent Team USA's powerlifting team in Sweden, Sept 23-Oct 3. The catch is that she is looking at about $5,000 in expenses to get there. I have no dog in this hunt... just ran across the story and thought it was awesome. Please consider donating if you are inclined.
