Do any of y'all experience a phenomenon where you set a stop/limit on a contract that is doing nothing but trending up, then will reverse, hit the stop limit and then immediately go back to trending up? Its causing me to be gun shy about setting any stop limits at all.

and IV. IV was 120+ on most strikes for this week. CCP is going to soak up premium for this week. Next week or better yet, the week after OPEX is a safer bet on NIO.

What does everyone think of $RTX (Raytheon)? I've been watching for a few days and trying to figure out support levels. (Side Note: how do yall post a chart on TA?). It looks like it's been bouncing between $85-$89, except for a major dip to $80 then recovery in mid July. They have received a price target boost recently to $110 and according to news on TOS, a bearish sweep of 10-15 $90C. Trying to figure out if there is some long term growth available here combined with an opportunity to net free some shares in that range above.

Yes, and if you think it's bad if you do it with shares, options makes it a nightmare. Stops on Options are treacherous. They're great to save you, but often cost you gains. If you're in an illiquid option, or if you're on an OTM option you're really risking getting pegged.

My best luck with it is to set the stop limit based on what the "ASK" is, not the "Mark" and also setting the Limit price to be an amount BELOW the stop so the fill actually happens.

TSLA giving me that feeling like it may want to even try 717 again today, a level that's been giving it trouble for awhile.

It's consolidating below the R1 daily pivot and sitting right on yesterdays value area high.

London close is upon us and has been creating market fun the past few days, but after the London close we've had good movement.....if that's the case today that's why I'd think TSLA could test 717 again

absolutely - it's like someone says "oh, there's a stop - lemme clean that up before we go on". happens to me frequently so I have to be careful not to put stops too tight when I'm not really that interested in selling.

AAPL levels anyone?

148.53 is a fib level on the 15 minute

but on the daily past (and recent) strong resistance is around 149.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get to see a full blown feeding frenzy in SAVA over the next few days.

Okay boss, buy more, sell or let it ride? You been nails. I got in when you were in banned camp feeding a stream to someone here in the thread. Own 400 shares at $72.74. Not afraid to sell and rebuy. Can ride her to zero if I have to or exit on the moon.

(That statement about a $3 Bil industry going to $25 Bil was a news flash. I'm in. If you think it's still a buying opp, I'll add more.)

I set stops for scalps but a little wider not to get caught in a flash to a SR level. I generally can watch the action though to move it accordingly.

I've got a few questions on options. I've been bag holding some PLTR 8/20 C26 calls since July. They are finally moving today.

This morning, delta was in the .30 range. Doesn't that mean that each $1 move in the stock, the option should move .30? This did not play out that way. The stock was up over $3 before I finally went green on the options (started morning at .29).

Now, when PLTR ran up to 25.60ish, I was actually green on the trade. Now that the SP has retreated by .35 or so to 25.25, the calls have already lost .26 on them.

Just when I thought I understood all of this, I get thrown a big old Lance McCullers Jr. curveball.

I know theta plays a role in this as well, but it wasn't large enough in my eyes to make a huge difference.

Any help will be appreciated.

in my best OA voice:

"sell covered calls on half your shares here, ride the remaining shares to create a net free holding on half".

sell some crazy high OTM strike. 150? or 155.

I'm not a seller because they will get FDA approval and everyone is aware of that as well. FOMO is real and I can see this one benefiting from it. I'm already in it pretty deep. I think it goes to $500 but if I'm wrong I don't want to have all my eggs in one basket.

Buying more is each individuals decision. It will be volatile, but the future prospects are too good to ignore.

I sometimes use what Schwab calls a conditional order. Basically, I can build an if/then statement as basic or coplex as I want. For example I can set If SPY crosses 445.00 THEN sell my 444C at market order. It's kind of useful when you have price targets on the underlying but can't watch that closely.

If I were to write up an "Anatomy of the trade" today it'd take up a whole Texags page.

Needless to say, what started as 700c's, became 705c's, became 710c's, and are now 730c's which themselves have again doubled.

Maybe you have a good-til-closed order on that stock that would result in opening an uncovered call?

So TSLA tagged R3 on the daily at 722.80....this often times is the end of a day's work, but I think we all realize TSLA is it's own animal and can throw pivot limits out the window.
