If you and 30k and FJ all go bull at the same time, I think that will be telling. Just let me know when to dump every single penny I own plus margin into an inverse ETF. My heart is full.

How many of you chart using a logarithmic scale? Have you found S/R levels and trendlines using a log scale to be more accurate than the standard linear chart?

I find it difficult to trade right now. Many things don't make sense so therefore I don't have a trust conviction. Maybe it's lack of trust.

Multiple days with little back testing, new ATH non stop, RSI, SKEW, ATR extensions, lower volume, etc.

I tend to be bull mentality vs bear but markets have me nervous despite bullish price action.

Ha! That might be a sign of the apocalypse!

I haven't posted much lately as life's been crazy. I had a tonsillectomy beginning of June then a vacation late June and now I'm trying to catch up. I was actually pretty bullish going into this week if for no other reason than I expected a low volume melt up. I generally think certain things are predictable in the market. Low volume green days before a holiday, flat weeks for quad witching, big green on first day of the year. They aren't perfect but reliable enough to use if managed correctly.

Like I think everyone else I've been feeling like the market is topped out for awhile and have pulled back on the covered calls as a result and replaced them with short expiration week call and put spreads on names like Google. I like those in a market like this because you can sell on Tuesday afternoon as theta is accelerating and get out Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning and make 2/3 of max premium while avoiding Friday pinning. For now I'm in a don't fight the trend mode. I doubt I'll enter any new long stock positions for awhile and instead focus on selling spreads mid week. My only long positions are ones I'm content to keep for awhile like WWR and PLTR.

Enjoy the weekend!

A quick glance at volume on the weekly S&P shows that this week was the 5th lowest volume week since August. Kinda typical of holiday weeks. I think we see some early green Tuesday then a pullback as volume returns. Had I been at the computer Friday afternoon I'd have bought Puts on probably a couple of things. Not ready to think through the next couple of weeks yet. I'll do that tomorrow or Monday.

Interesting Barron's article about PLTR. Their product has a reputation for only being valuable for mega corps and government which they disagree with so in an effort to combat that perception they're using SPACs to buy into smaller companies they think can benefit then selling that company a parallel licensing agreement. That's a pretty fascinating business development idea.

https://www.barrons.com/articles/palantir-stock-spac-ipo-51625250285?siteid=yhoof2

Quote:

To date, Palantir has participated in at least eight SPAC-related PIPE transactions, investing well over $100 million, using the deals as a way to win business from emerging companies that can benefit from Palantir's big data analytics software. In effect, Palantir is providing capital up front in return for a multiyear commitments to use the company's software.

Shyam Sankar, Palantir's chief operating officer, says there's a historic perception that Palantir's software is only suitable for very large companies and government agencies. "We don't think that to be true," he says. "With SPACs, we see a historic opportunity to invest in our customers."

My hunch is in the next couple of weeks we'll see it touch the 50 which is right at 4200. That's only 3.65% from here so really not much of a pull back. Regardless of target though we're on the same page. Nothing really makes a lot of sense right now. In the back of my mind I'm wondering if we're caught in an odd multi-week cycle (3 weeks to be specific) made up of quad witching which I think I'll prove soon is never green (doing that research now) but always followed by green then a holiday week which generally speaking is reliably green. If that hunch is correct then my next hunch is we'll get a pullback of some size soon, like week ending 7/9 or 7/16. Or both.

On a serious note, this is a lot like baseball. Even the best have slumps. But if you don't keep swinging, you won't hit the game saving RBI double (note I didn't say home run).

Me as well, though I do toggle between semi-log and Cartesian plots. I'd be willing to bet that most folks regularly reviewing decay or exponential declines are more likely to use logarithmic.

If you have a favorite condor play, either as a weekly, or just your favorite that you're in, that would be interesting.
