Correct.

Let's assume he bought 6 option cotracts.

He sold the first 2 (so there would only be 4 contracts remaining) when he was up 37%. Then he sold 3 of his remain at 65% up on the investment.

So now he would only have 1 option contract that he is going to let ride and see what shakes out after recovering most, if not all, his capital on the original investment.

As an example...

Bought 10 contracts.
Scaled 1/3 at 37% profit in a few minutes into the trade.
Scaled the next 1/3 at 65% not long after.
Kept runner which in this case is 1/3 but normally a runner is just 1 or 2 contracts.

I see resistance at 26.20 then 28.00 so reaching resistance I take most of the risk off the table and have rest as free money.

3 or so weeks ago another poster found large call activity for TAN July $90 strikes. Looking today I see a lot of open interest on the $90 and $95 strikes. Might be time for a run.
