Can someone explain why OA sold basically an ITM covered call on mgni? Instead of the 30 1/2021

I believe it was because he had a specific price target of $25 to move 50% of his shares, so he was reaping the premium and hoping to get called out on that target. (if I read his response right)

I'm ready to kick off 2021 and was targeting a 30% return for the year, which seems a little high for "normal" annual returns, but then also seems really low compared how well things have played lately. There were a lot of great opportunities this year, and there's no guarantee they'll come this easily into next year, but at the moment my return target is set at 2.5% per month.

What'd I tell you about MSFT? Those big boys had filled their gullets and were committed to the breakout started Friday.

20%. I have a super small account compared to some of the whales out here, so I'm kind of limited on moves. When OA says he buys 100 shares against his spy puts/calls, I chuckle. My net free MARA shares? 42.

Alas, a couple 20% years and hopefully adding capital, and I should have a nice little nest egg.

Edit to add this is my play account. 401k is actually doing much better. That one is up almost 50% on the year.

I believe we both graduated around the same time (thinking I knew of you from the BCS Street days if your screen name is any indicator) so we're both in the same boat, that's why I was curious to see what you set your goal at. My net free on MARA is 25 shares after I was assigned on a bunch of my calls, so you've got me beat!

I also have a 401k that I don't touch and this is my play account as well. I was able to return about 12.5% this month and I'm hopeful I can hit my 2.5%/month goal for next year to average a 30% annual return. Doing the same as you and adding capital plus shooting for 20-30%/year and it will keep moving in the right direction. All subject to change of course, but I've set out what I think are fairly realistic contribution + return goals, we'll see.

Really appreciate your response, and congrats on getting so close to your goal! If we keep it up I'm sure you'll hit it before New Years.

Not really after a day like today right now. Was this the pre-quake or the quake? It looks like it was the quake but they want us to believe that too. (This sounds like Princess Bride).. So clearly we can't just jump into the upside. But they know we know their games and therefore we know that they know we think it was the quake, and therefore clearly we can't buy the downside either.

If you are wanting a trade based on this potentially being the quake then that means PINS is finished retesting its low range and will move back up to at least $72. And should markets rally post Christmas (another higher odds day on low volume upwards) then just go Dec 31 or even Jan 8 $72's

Nothing easy out there anymore with what has happened this year. Last year my other convictions were AMD and SQ.

I know this might sound crazy, but the best conviction I have right now is AMZN. I think it is the safest risk/reward out there, and if Jeff decides to split, I could see it triple in a couple years.

That's me though. Glad to hear your out there making it. I do have a number in mind per year I'm going to play some more risky lottos, but before I get there, I'm very risk adverse nowadays. Learned too many hard lessons, and lost a lot of sleep haha.

This is a dumb question, but selling puts right now and not doing anything until January has no 2020 tax consequence right? I'm in the middle of trying to tax loss sell everything I've ever messed up on the past few years to offset a small portion of some ROKU profits.

One ridiculous swing trade can erase every mistake you've ever made in a matter of months. Sold a house in the summer and put most of the cash out into ROKU in August so now I've got some real first world probs to sort out.
