You can always open a 2nd account and move some money into it as a cash account so you don't have those limitations. I use TOS so its easy to switch between accounts such as tax deferred, cash, margin, etc.

On Fidelity I can select whether I want to buy with cash or margin.

If I choose cash and buy with settled cash, I can sell the same day and it doesn't count as a day trade.

My apologies to the board for bringing NIO down.

If its any consolation to you guys, finally...I had one time where I was on the right side of one of these things. Just as I posted that, I sold off all my remaining position in it at just over $52 after selling a lot along the way in its run up from $19ish to $50ish. Its now $43ish.

I bought 10k shares when it was around $2.50 and promptly sold when it hit $3.50 even though OA said this this was going to rocket. So if anyone feels like a dumbass right now, its big G. Instead of the 10K profit I would be looking at 400K in profit. That would have eaten up a large chunk of my losses year to date.

I am heavy shares and also bought some options. Heavy shares so I have flexibility to go net free on a portion or sell covered calls on part should we get a spike.

I've got for fun of the 12/18 5Cs. YOLO....

If it pops between now and/or right at the conference the risk was worth the reward IMO. Whether I sell them or exercise them depending. If not I am not worried about the loss on what I bought.
