I would be very patient with this as a medium investor. You will get your first real clue on potential next week with earnings. Since you are tax deferred I wouldn't hesitate to take up to 50% off should it have a parabolic move approaching $18-20+. It would settle down to the $14-15 area from a move like that to re-enter picking up an additional $2-3k on the trade.

We'll know a lot more after this earnings on its trend and potential but $20 is very achievable short term.

Take a different tact here for example. I have a software that shows what number and percent of shares required to recapture original investment. Obviously you can keep tabs manually periodically and after decent moves upward.

That stands at 1527 shares sold at $11.10 to achieve net free status. Now that you have that forget it. The most I'd target to sale is 30% after a great average entry price. See the tweet from a guy who we did the excercise with on hitting certain levels to begin using covered calls to achieve that.

It is more important for you to get into the discipline of planting net free shares than bigger picture for now. You are targeting $17.50 to sell 16 shares. That's your goal.

This is actually really encouraging. I had buy orders placed for a dip under $8 as I was late to the party so I only managed to sneak in a small number of shares for an initial buy but I can still apply this principle. Excellent info, as always!

I work in the engineering field (telecom) and we have a few older guys who are fantastic and so patient with new engineers. You can tell they genuinely enjoy teaching and passing on their experience and it's fantastic to see it happening here. That goes for OA and many others in here. I think I speak for most in here when I say it's sincerely appreciated from those of us watching, learning and trading along on a smaller scale. Im 31 so I've got a lot of time left to do this and acquiring these skills will help me for years to come. Cheers Ags!

If I recall correctly, you haven't dabbled in any options for MGNI. Beyond having a large equity holding already, what's been your thought process regarding options?

It's been a slow and steady move up, until recently so options are hard to navigate on early trend shares.

I'd like to volunteer as my NIO is by far the largest bit of risky investment i've ever had outside my house if you don't mind me helping. Although I will be showing my cards on how little I know about trading/investing...

    • # of shares held : NIO - 22 calls of 1/15/21 $5 and 2 calls of 11/20 $25
    • In a tax deferred or capital gains account : Robinhood... Capital gains?
    • Small Medium Large Investor : Small

Current plan was to exercise both sets options and hold for a long time as I believe (hope) NIO can be $100+...

I am thinking of selling puts on AMC theaters with the goal of using the premium to build a net free long position. This is a bet that AMC survives the COVID crisis, but I bet it will spike on any type of vaccine news.
What are you thinking on these? 11/27 $2P going for .18 right now, thinking of selling a few of those? Edit: Dec 18 $2P going for .38, that seems like a better deal.

I looked at Jan 2023 calls, but they're selling for $1.30 and that seemed pricey for a $2.50 stock.

December monthlies. I'm going to try it and will keep repeating it until it stops working. I am going to start with 50 contracts.

My basis in MGNI is around $7.50, wish I had bought more. I was planning to sell 20% to have a partially net free holding.

    3720 shares, no options.

My favorite OA pick has been NET, followed by MARA, and then GRWG. Least favorite TSN

They are taking Georgia which not only makes Trump a hard path (AZ, NV, NC, PA) but there are two Republican Senate seats that could flip giving all 3 branches to Dems. I'd predict limit down on that.
