Shorting qqq has been working for me last week and this week. Buy puts above daily 5 ema (which it hasn't held) for a 52% gain today and done by 11:05. I missed the opening gap up trade. Not holding anything overnight until after the election.

I'm very thin on trades through election day. If we can hold in range $330-$350 into election day I'll take some large SPY spreads out two weeks before election.

From our conf call earlier this month. (wow i feel like this is an actual firm now)

"Election is going to be a tumultuous time. If Biden wins, might see initial drop and then rally. Initial policies are still Trump's policies. Afterwards balance of power in the Senate could determine policy change. OA thinks you would see relief rally and then slow bleed after 2 quarters. If Trump wins, could see initial sell off, then would have to watch social discourse which could cause some macro shifts during that time until settled. "

I'll let OA add on what he wants from here.

Not trying to replace OA.

Just adding what I have read or adjusting to what I put out a week or so ago.

The couple of traders I have followed went cautious late last week. They aren't selling out (could be today if S&P doesn't hold up here). They aren't investing cash yet. They stated they will likely wait till after the election before investing cash.

One said he thinks Trump wins (interesting because of all the folks he knows on Wall Street). He says we run up if Trump wins and we drop (not much) if Biden wins. The drop wouldn't last long in his opinion.

I can type more on why, but wanted to give some perspective on some folks who have been pretty accurate on market calls over the last couple of years.

I guess now that we're dancing on the SPY 50day ema, it's rubber meets road time. Kind of doubt the bulls are ready to wage war at a time like this. Also kinda think the bears are just timid enough about a nice stimulus word that they won't necessarily take charge either.

Yea, the stimulus is the only thing that could inject some life into the markets this week imo. I thought if it was going to happen, it would have been last week so thats when i bailed on Friday just before close.

Exited most options last week to trade spy only - quickly in and out. Long shares holding at -1-3% on the P/L, just taking them off the watch list till this madness is over. Not good for the mental state to look at what those %'s mean in $s.

Yeah, I think both sides were just playing it to their base, knowing they would never reach an agreement. If trump wins hopefully you'll see something in the weeks after the election. If he loses you may not see anything until Biden is sworn in as the Democrats will bailout every Democratic state that needs it
