As VIX pulls back to the 28's here, I may be shopping for some VIX 35calls for mid-late november on the hunch that we get a VIX spike with election nonsense.
These are actually up despite being purchased while the underlying was higher. VIX is quietly creeping upward.

Was some concern given the AH moves on EHTH yesterday after earnings and would it track similarly. GOCO did dip AH down to a low of $11.01 but back at/above yesterday's close. EHTH has not so far.

Not seeing any news on why SNSS is up 13%. Just normal biotech volatility?
I got tired of holding it for so long with no real movement and keeping funds tied up so I had a GTC sell order at $1.35. So I'd like to attribute the run up today to my selling

If I remember right, OA had said something along the lines of selling 75% of shares around $1.75 or something along those lines. I just wanted to deleverage some with all of this volatility and how much my account has hurt this week. I got a very small gain out of it after a month of holding.

I neglected to mention on stops......you'll often hear "don't let a winner turn into a loser".....it's great advice, but if done incorrectly I think it cancels itself out.

Quick scenario:

Buy some $1.50 call, it quickly runs to $1.70.

What do you do? Cross fingers, let it run? Set stop at $1.50? Sell some, then set a stop?

A) Cross fingers - This often causes pain, it'll run to $1.75, then pull back to $1.30, then you're left wondering WTF. This is a common phenomenon with OTM calls.

B) Set stop at $1.50 - 20 minutes in you probably get stopped out for a break even on the ebbs and flows.

C) Sell a little at $1.70 - set a stop on what's left. Now you've made some profit, and worst case you get break even on what's left. This can let winners run a bit.

Again, this depends on strike and time. OTM weekly, you're likely going to see A or B happen quickly, C is likely best here. ATM or ITM monthly or leap, you could do any with some confidence......

Again, nothing seems to work all the time with these and that's why I think you have to find your niche and run it, or have a plan for each setup you're using.

Yeah nailed my experiences. I realized for me I needed to trade way more contracts, and start phasing them out. I was constantly finding myself in scenario A and B, but I wasn't trading enough money to move to choice C. My account just isn't big enough yet, so I've shifted more towards verticals with narrow spreads that let me get in for cheap, and allocate an appropriate amount for my account size.

For reference, I have a 401k thats in VTSAX I never touch or look at, then I have a Fidelity brokerage where I have long term holds and do covered calls/cash secured puts, and my RH account is where I've been doing options just to learn.

Is anyone continuing to add MBIO, or is this wait and see mode?
Maybe instead of adding here, sell $2.50 puts? I think one of the guys mentioned that yesterday, might be a better approach then buying the shares outright.

I think if you're looking to cost down this is a good approach. If you're looking to start a position for the longer term, may just go ahead and buy now in case there is good news from one of these conferences

Depending on your cost basis and if you are leveraged too much on MBIO, you could look to sell some degree of covered calls that may have you in the green should you get called out and below a $2.50 cost basis if not. I think that is what McInnis did selling a % of his total shares on $2.50 Nov covered calls.

Also a good strategy...I've just been putting some of the sidelined money I have (prep for election) in to MBIO as I don't think the election will make much of a difference to that stock

All I know is if Biden wins, short oil, long renewables

If Biden wins, oil drops 30% immediately.

Not so sure. A ban on fracking would be bullish for oil.

How? Sure, it would make the price per barrel and price at the pump go up, because companies aren't going to have the ability to extract oil. That doesn't mean US Oil Comaony stocks would rise, they'd plummet. It would ruin the Us oil industry while making us dependent on foreign oil.

When you say oil drops I assume your talking about /CL (crude oil futures), which may rally. I take it you were referring to stocks which may or may not rally off of a /CL move higher. I am short oil stocks and will probably take profits soon but I will not short or long /CL anytime soon. I could see /CL with a 6 handle in the future but not willing to go long here.

ARLO is looking like it's about to make a move higher over the next few weeks, it's coiled.

Earnings are Nov 5th and I think they should report a solid qtr with a positive outlook for Christmas.

Was it a trade or an investment?

If it was an investment, then no.

If it was a trade, then yes and take some off the table and decrease your risk and raise cash before an election that might send the market volatility through the roof.

Maybe set a trailing stop loss on a % of your shares. Think LUV goes higher mid/long. Just my 2 cents.

Definitely an investment. I prefer to hold at least until it becomes long term gains next year.

My main worry is that there's a second crash once the industry fails to fully recover and it struggles to reach $43 again, but who knows.

Yeah, but shares only. The stock is cheap enough and it's one I want to own going into Christmas. With all the social unrest in the cities, I bet BBY is selling a ton of their camera systems. If riots breakout because of the election, which is likely, ARLO will benefit from the chaos.
