There is a reason Audi and VW are marketed under different brands. If Tesla begins selling a 25,000 car, it will dilute the appeal to status symbol buyers, who will stick with a luxury brand... model S sales will struggle I believe. Long term having all of the cars under one brand this is marketing mistake.

Man i put about half my cash reserves into the Long play market in the beginning of this month and it's already down 3%. Bad timing. Hopefully market recovers this year. I stayed out of the market forever and didn't catch any of the mass growth. It is what it is. If I had 20 years it would be fine but with only 7 years to retirement any dip hurts.

put half of the remainder in the market if we dump again in the morning.

makes sense but that's not what happened when they announced the model 3. I'm not sure model s drivers are all about the status symbol. Cool factor maybe, performance, pretend to be enviro conscious, but the luxury brands all have ev options for someone who's peepee isn't big enough to drive a brand that has an economical option

For the record:

For someone using money earmarked for retirement, and within a decade of retirement, I would avoid these:

1) Trying to time the market - just stay steady in a well-diversified portfolio
2) Pursuing virtually any of the strategies in this thread with retirement funds. These recommendations are for risk capital (or fun money) only, in my opinion.

Fed has said they will leave easy money policy for years. Depending on the stocks you've purchased, you'll be fine in under a year IMO.

So I opened a 9/23 SPX 3230/3240 vertical put spread for a $1.05 debit late in the afternoon.

SPX closed at 3236.92. With my 3240 put ITM, and my 3230 put expiring worthless, I'm assuming I get cash settled for $3.08

I read a little further (shame on me for not doing this first) and see SPX actually settles in the AM, and furthermore might not know the settlement price until a couple hours after the open?

put stops in, don't ride it down. You can always buy back in later when the market reverses, much cheaper than riding it down. Things could get uglier from here.
