I love seeing those huge options trades. It makes me wonder if someone is seeing something I'm not or a hedge fund feels like throwing what is pennies to them on a bet that has an asymmetric reward if it hits.

I bet clay has a decent idea on the total market volume that is algo driven. I am certain we would all be pretty shocked.

Tweet and other 'news' driven trades often get reverted as quickly as they initially pop or drop. The spikes detach price from MAs by n STDEVs and that triggers mean reverting algos into action. That more often happens on drops. There's a large amount of volume dedicated to long mean reversion trading bc it's never not worked. When these get shut off during the next crash, forget about lines on a chart.

Accuracy of gap fades vs gap and go is related to volatility. When volatility hits, more often gap trades are successful. Gap up this large rarely continues up in session, but when they do its usually for big points.

Just spoke with my boss (he's in HK right now) and he said things were much better this weekend. Still protests, but everything was peaceful and no violence. Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite had really good days today. Perhaps Trump's tweet isn't complete BS and the trade talks are going again.
SONO breaking out for those that trade it.
