Looks like a lot of that was sell-off over the weekend.

Am I wrong to read about the 87 crash? Seems similar.

87 was largely pre-computer and there were no stop mechanisms to allow cooler heads to prevail.

What stop mechanisms do we have now?

There are circuit breakers at 7%, 13% & 20% drops

EDIT: Corrected the thresholds.

Woohoo! Largest daily point drop ever by a 400pt margin!!

Not even in top 20 in % terms though.

Dow -0.4% YTD.

I kinda missed this kind of excitement.

I'm ruined! Ruined I tell you!

Oh wait. I didn't lose anything today because I'm not selling for 25 more years.

Still haven't lost anywhere near to what I have gained over the past 13 months. This pullback was inevitable.
I only lost about 25% of what I gained since Jan 1 2018. I'll take it.

True dat! I stopped out and my algo finally signaled sell the next day.

+80% intraday day fall and XIV unwinds. It's done if Credit Suisse decides it is. It's in the prospectus and hopefully read by most.

Unreal.

My indicators don't see a problem yet. It's best to ignore the news & stay the course.
Financial TV shows like to report point drops instead of percentages, so they can say "largest ever".

You can throw out your H&S and cup and handles. Those win less than 50% of the time anyways. Volume profile is your friend, but you cannot manually trade this with leverage. Human traders will not beat computers in this environment.

take out the periods. they're censoring "m.a.r.k.e.t.w.a.t.c.h." for some reason.
Look at the last 6 letters and then chop off the last 2.
Never thought of that. But cock is ok. Goofy mods are goofy.
When South Carolina changes their ladies sports mascot to the Gametw-ts then we'll probably get some relief from the censoring

VX1 and VX2, presently VXG8 and VXH8, just destroyed XIV.

I get that $2 billion is a drop in the bucket. But volatility is both traded and used as a signal/hedge by most institutional investors.

I have no idea how the broader market will react. So, yes - not the "largest ever", but this is historic.

IV posted at $4.22. Important to anyone still in XIV because if they decide to retire the note; per the prospectus, that's the share price you'll be paid out at.

this is why GOP or any politician should never tout stock market success....especially if it's less than a 4 year period.

This is to blowing way past the 100 day MA. I'm guessing near term support is 2533 the 200 day MA.

So nasty that 3 months worth of gains wiped out in 3 days.

If these stocks hit these levels, they start to look interesting in my opinion.

XOM < 75
MCD < 150
FB < 170
AAPL < 150
JPM < 100

Is XIV something any of you are looking to invest in once this craziness stops?

My gut is telling me to go for it at some point...

CS still hasn't decide if they're unwinding or not. They are one of the largest bag holders.

I realized something else this morning. Ten minutes past bell is when it hit -90%. My broker doesn't execute stops AH. I'm sure there are lots of people with similar situations. Phew, I can't believe I dodged this.
