My wife works for Terracon out here. I know they're hiring for a lot of different positions. I'd recommend he look there to see if anything interests him and she could pass on his info if so.

My bro in law is looking for a job in Denver. Mech engineering degree (class of 13) works in oil now... Anybody have any connections or know of anything out there right now?
Lot's of engineering jobs out here. While there seems to be a fair amount of oil & gas there's more elsewhere in manufacturing etc.

Manebass, I see a position I'm interested in on terracon website (though it's a bit vague on exactly the focus of the position) the project manager II.

Anything she could do to help out? I will apply for it in the morning.

Pm me and I'll get you her e-mail to send her your resume. She said she'd pass it on as an employee referral so that you'll get a good look from them.

Things are picking up here for a possible move from DFW to Denver. Quick question for those that have made the move or a move of similar distance, what's the best/cheapest way to make the move?

I came up here from New Orleans in a Penske with my car behind it. Unlike uhaul, they don't charge by the mile.

I did Houston to Denver using Penske. Large 26' truck. Rental was about $600, plus a couple hundred in fuel. I booked 6 months in advance. If you book just a month or two, it is significantly more according to what they told me.

I've never done it, but you could look at SAIA LTL freight. It's not terrible and there are many service centers in Hou and Den.

I'm interested in this too. I reached out to D&D Movers and an outfit called Armstrong Relocation (Houston). I'm curious if anyone has had success with these or others.

Most likely, I'd want someone to transport our stuff so I'm not on the hook for driving a big truck.

BTW, I should mention that the wheels are finally in motion for us too. House in Houston is under contract and passed option period. So unless the financing falls through, we should be good. Plus I just started a gig that let's me stay remote. So I can be anywhere close to an airport.

Can't wait to move the family up. Kinda surreal for is right now.

Thanks to everyone that provided tips ad contacts on here. Much appreciated and I look forward to buying a few beers all around.

Congrats. Just moved her me from Houston in January. Same situation. Can work from anywhere near an airport. We chose Eagle because we wanted small mountain town. The process of cross country moving sucks but once you are here you won't regret it.

If there are any IT (Sys Admin) people looking for a job, one just opened up on my team at FirstBank. If the link won't work for you, the title is Systems Administrator-Infrastructure Client Svcs.

I just accepted a job and will be moving back to Denver within the next couple of weeks. I'm looking for recommendations on places to live, being that rents seem to be going way up. I lived in Wash Park previously and my landlord told us she was jacking up rent due to extremely high demand there so i'll probably steer clear of there this time, unless I happen to find something reasonably priced with a landlord who's cool with young people.

Office is in DTC
I'm mid-20s guy, single, no pets (yet)
Own a car
I'll be on a bit of a budget during my first year-ish but I don't have to live in a van down by the river

Probably wont live downtown due to the price. Considering Broadway, Cap Hill, LoHi, Lakewood. Would obviously prefer an area with a decent social scene due to my demographic but it isn't a must. Can't stand Aurora. Lived there for 6 months and it was so boring and impossible to meet people my age. Living by the light rail is a plus.

I guess while we're on it, I'm also on the market for roommates if anyone here is looking for one.

Seems like there's a **** ton of building going on up there on the south side.

As in southern burbs like Parker? I'm thinking of waiting a bit to see if there is a slowdown. Renting in the meantime.

Anyone else have thoughts on the RE market? Is it holding value indefinitely?

I'm in Parker. Lots of development.. but mostly single family homes. Lone Tree is pretty up and up.. new schwab campus brought in a lot of condos/apartments. Lone Tree city center is slated to be on northwest corner of 25 and Ridgegate (diagonal from Cabela's). But that will be several years.. after the light rail extension is complete.

You seeing any of that construction slowing down? I'm gonna rent either way, but I'm curious if the market has slowed. In Houston, it definitely has...

On the news the other night they were talking about a report saying the real estate market is continuing to grow and not expected to slow. That's local news so take it for what it's worth.

I'm seeing continued growth in our area (price appreciation) in Highlands Ranch. Many houses under contract in less than 5 days.

same here in Littleton. We had a house go up on our street that was under contract in under a week. They paid a lot more for that house than we did ours just a year ago. Makes me feel a little better about buying at the peak of the market.

Man this is happening fast. Wife got the offer yesterday so we'll be making the move in a couple weeks. Add two more to the list of Denver ags.

We are so pumped!

No not at all. Denver is not tied to O&G like Houston is.
Our builder is building our exact house a mile away in a new neighborhood and starting price is $100k more than what it was for us in winter of 2012.

So I'm pretty happy about that. If we were buying now, our house would be out of our budget. Higher cost plus higher interest rate probably amounts to $600-$700 more a month.

Not Denver, but there's a bunch of construction down here in the Springs as well.
And yeah, all the southern burbs in the lone tree/centennial area

Nice. Lots of Ags in Denver already and the number just keeps growing. Might be the biggest A&M presence outside Texas.

To the non-marrieds on this thread, what do y'all think about the dating scene in Denver? I personally found it to be pretty tough for the 20-something male because it appeared that guys still heavily outnumber girls. Is the whole "Menver" thing still true in yall's opinion?

The apartments on the NE corner of Hampden and 25 (near DTC) claim to have the only lazy river in Denver. I mean what more does a single man need?

As membership VP, it is my duty to tell the new Coloradans to join the local A&M club. Really, it's great, and the money goes to scholarships for Aggies-to-be from Colorado. Just do it.

Was there last Thursday around 2pm. Very, very busy. I was told to expect 3+ hour waits Friday and Saturday nights. Pro tip: show up on a random weekday just to get your $5.00 membership card. Cuts out a lot of the wait on the busy times.
