We did sat afternoon session last year. Seems like it was still really crowded, and it took 45 minutes for us to get in. You can find breweries with no lines, but you go find odell's, avery, dogfish head, russian river, 3 floyds, etc. etc.. and it's 30 people deep.. for an ounce of beer. We did find double mountain brewery out of oregon, they had awesome beers and no lines.
Farm to table happens thursday and friday night, concurrent with the main festival.
http://www.greatamericanbeerfestival.com/at-the-festival/farm-to-table-pavilion/It was off the side of the hall near silent disco, opposite the main entrance.
it's beer samples with food samples.
But again, lines lines. and farm to table is twice as much. We only stayed in there 45 minutes, then went to main hall.
We did have our own early entrance with no line. But the main hall wouldn't pour us beer until 5:30, so that sucked. I could have gotten in a dozen tastes with no lines in those 20 minutes, because it was empty.
