proud/SunDevil/any others... Have you guys checked out Epic Brewing yet? They just opened a big taproom at 30th and Walnut, and it's pretty nice and lots of very tasty beers.

October Denver TexAgs meetup?

Houston is out of the picture now - just wasn't going to work out and we really want to be in Denver.

I've narrowed it down to a school in Centennial just north of County Line Road and a school in Broomfield. I have been told, however, that the commute downtown from Broomfield is absolutely brutal - is that true? If so, we'll be focusing on Lone Tree, eastern Highlands Ranch, and western Parker.

Any specific information on areas to avoid would be appreciated. Any thoughts on the Ridgeview section of Lone Tree?

Kitch- I've tried a few Epic beers, and I really like them. A co-worker's son is a brewer there, and he told me the taproom was really nice. I've been meaning to go by there and try the Big Bad Baptist. I'd be down for an October meetup.

Thriller- I don't know much about the Broomfield commute, but I could see it being bad. You mentioned Centennial.... I'm a pretty big fan of Centennial. You can't go wrong in Lone Tree, other than Acres Green. The rest is really nice. I think Ridgeview is the area near Sky Ridge hospital; if so, it's a great area. Let me know if you want to talk in further detail, or if you want to meet up if you make a trip out here.

Sold...

alright ags.. I've got another pay it forward to give.

Two GABF tickets tomorrow night for.. how about.. half price?

$75.

I actually have 3, so I'll do 3 for $100 or single for $40 or the pair.

Caveat.. they are will call in my name, so you'd have to me meet at convention center with cash. I'll grab em from window and give them to you. I plan on getting there around 5:15. Starts at 5:30.

Very last minute I know, but surely someone can make it happen for this great deal.

let me know!

I have the opportunity to move to Denver, but my wife refuses to leave Dallas...so irritated!!!

On another note, does anyone in/near Centennial drive a black 7-series BMW with Texas shaped A&M emblems on the front fenders? I was at a stop light next to it when I was there a few weeks ago.

^^

That's crazy, my friend. Denver is similar to Dallas, except better views, closer to cool stuff to do, cooler temps and FAR LESS d-bags!!!

We've been dying to move, but haven't found the right job opportunity yet.

Got one working now, though, so keeping my fingers crossed. If anyone that trolls this board knows someone at Great West Life in Denver, PM me.

One step closer. Offer in hand, prelim house scouting/commute timing/school visit planned for next weekend. If you happen to hold the TexAgs meetup that weekend, let me know and we'll be there.

Now we have to see how this Houston offer turns out via her interview on Monday. I think we'll know either way by Tuesday. Excited isn't a strong enough word to describe it.

62- I wish I would have seen your post from Thursday. I passed up a homebrewers session ticket, but I probably would have jumped on a Friday night ticket. How was it?

Thriller- Good luck on the trip.

We did the farm to table.. overall, I wasn't hugely impressed.. Not for the quality of beer and food, but they shove 200 someodd people in that area, so the lines are 15-20 deep. Then you get a bite of food, sip of beer, and start over. We only hit up like 3 (out of 10) tables, then went to main hall.

Of course same story there.. just shoulder to shoulder in the whole hall. it was our second year. We had the same sentiments the first year, so tried the Farm to table.. but I can't say that we'll do it again.

Farm to table was nice in that we had our own entrance, so there was no line. But pissed again because they let us in 20 minutes before general admin, but they weren't pouring!!

So the benefit of getting in early is not fully realized because we couldn't sample while there was no one in there.

We went to first annual epic brewing festival in the summer. I think we will stick to that one.Still more beers than you can possibly drink, plus belgian and german beers, and about 1/10 of the people. And almost half the price.

I've never heard of farm to table, and I've only been to the homebrewer's/Saturday session. There weren't any lines except for a few places. Have you been to that session?

We did sat afternoon session last year. Seems like it was still really crowded, and it took 45 minutes for us to get in. You can find breweries with no lines, but you go find odell's, avery, dogfish head, russian river, 3 floyds, etc. etc.. and it's 30 people deep.. for an ounce of beer. We did find double mountain brewery out of oregon, they had awesome beers and no lines.

Farm to table happens thursday and friday night, concurrent with the main festival.
http://www.greatamericanbeerfestival.com/at-the-festival/farm-to-table-pavilion/

It was off the side of the hall near silent disco, opposite the main entrance.
it's beer samples with food samples.

But again, lines lines. and farm to table is twice as much. We only stayed in there 45 minutes, then went to main hall.

We did have our own early entrance with no line. But the main hall wouldn't pour us beer until 5:30, so that sucked. I could have gotten in a dozen tastes with no lines in those 20 minutes, because it was empty.

GABF has jumped the shark. Not really but they do seem to be growing at an unsustainable pace. Seems like lots of boutique festivals showing up that are much more crowd friendly. I've been to three since moving up to Minnesota and while they didn't have the selection GABF has, they also didn't have the crowds...no lines at the bathroom,no lines at the beer tents except for special tappings

Proud and I "accidentally" went to a beer fest in Beaver Creek this summer. Literally no line for any beer whatsoever.

Yeh I'll be doing epic beer festival regularly here in denver assuming it continues. It even had Belgians which I was excited about, including like 4 or 5 of the Trappist breweries.

And only $45.

I graduated a little over a year ago and would like to move to Denver in the near future. I am planning on taking a more active role in my job search in the next few months and I was just wondering if anyone has any good ideas or tips on where to start. I have contacted the A&M Career Center and they recommended sending out informational interview requests. I plan on doing this again, but I was wondering if any of you Denver Ags have any additional advice.

I will be looking for positions in finance. I'm currently working on updating my resume and I periodically check the job boards and LinkedIn for openings.

Thanks!

It's not incredibly fancy and you won't find any imports, but Laramie Brewfest is in July. We moved here just in time to go this year and really enjoyed it.

I'm lucky enough to work from home and set my own schedule so I'm looking forward to lots of BBQ and a lower handicap. Marriage lottery FTW.

It's either free or $50 to get access to the Aggie database via the Aggie Network website. It allows you to search Aggies by company, city, and industry. I highly recommend searching this way, and then contacting Aggies to seeif they know of any jobs or if they would meet with you for 15-30 minutes to network.

I'm in oil/gas, and I'd recommend looking in this industry. Some of the larger o/g companies in Denver are Anadarko, Noble, PDC, Newfield, Bill Barrett, Samson, Whiting, and EOG. There are a ton of small o/g companies here.

Congrats & welcome to the club. We'll need to know some important things like 40 time, how fast can you chug a beer, anticipated # of golf rounds and ski days in 2014, favorite karaoke song, and favorite flavor of ice cream.

Just so you know, I'm giving you roughly 3 years to move back. Any time after that, be on the lookout with a Winnebago because me and db will bring you back ourselves.

Hmmm. My 40 time is slower than my beer chugging time without a doubt. Golf rounds will be as many as I can play. My first year here I was playing 5 days a week. I miss it. Ali days will depend. I've been a handful of times but blues have stretched my ability to date if that gives you an idea. I really want to get better at that. Karaoke - no clue. I haven't been since TAMU and wouldn't know where to start. And partial to Blue Bell Moose Tracks.

One thing that hit me the other day was the beer selection here just isn't as good. We have lots of good beer and the craft brew scene is starting to explode thanks to some recent legislation changes but it isn't Denver. I was looking at the Beer Advocate top 250 list the other day and reminiscing about how many of those were obtainable in Denver, many at the liquor store a quarter of a mile from my old house.

Speaking of that, my "basement" is about to get an upgrade. We ordered a couch for our bedroom, but my wife thought it was too big when it got delivered. I was able to convince her to move the smaller couch from our basement to our bedroom, and then order this for the basement in the near future:
