So wait...didn't you make the choice to attend college and graduate from a school in this state?

That was an ignorant time in his life

Stay in TX and get ****ed - we don't want you nor do we need you - the personal anecdotes of why you think we do don't matter - we don't.

I can't wait for them to pass the travel restrictions that are working their way through the legislature.

Ignorant state with ignorant people

So angry. Why are all the coronabros so damn emotional?

Dude. Not sure if you're drunk, high, or butthurt but take a chill pill. If you think Colorado is ok (regardless of resort/area) without Texas dollars then I think you're sorely mistaken.

If your point is 'wear a mask and be cool' then fine. Say that. But you're coming across as quite an ass.

You're assuming he graduated. His posts suggest otherwise

Um..as a Texan who has lived in a CO ski town for the past 8 years, I definitely do not agree with this sentiment.
Regarding masks, I've seen compliance with most visitors with a few bad apples from all states, not just Texas. Quite frankly, I'm a little over the anti-Texas sentiment from Coloradans, especially when a lot of issues come from people on the Front Range.
Let the people come (and spend their money). Most people will follow local laws and ordinances once they are aware of them.

We don't depend on Texans. Typical TX dying to feel important when they aren't. That's why your stage is the butt of most others jokes. Your states a clown show. Watch the news.

With that said, Wear a mask or stay the **** home - It's the law

Hah. Without Texas, Colorado is Wyoming. You're welcome.

Agree with this. Don't get the specific callout of Texans from some of the hippie Colorados. Everyone I've interacted with has been super pleasant and accommodating when up there. Most are transplants anyway.

From the state of Colorado's own website re: Tourism

The top out-of-state markets for overnight Colorado vacations in 2019 were California, Texas and Florida...

The top out-of-state urban areas generating overnight vacationers in 2019 were generally the same primary markets we noted last year: Los Angeles New York City Dallas Ft. Worth Albuquerque Santa Fe Chicago Phoenix Salt Lake City Houston

I don't trust the Colorado state website.

The anonymous posts from the night bellhop at the Vail Marriott are far more convincing.

OP has an inferiority complex about Texas.

Again, CO absolutely needs those Texas license plates to survive.

Looks like the "Respect the Locals" bros are pushing their message beyond their state lines.

Do you know Texas' largest state park? It's Colorado!

I'm a local and welcome Texans. They help drive the economy here. It's no secret.

I was talking to a friend that owns a store in Beaver Creek about the perception some have about Texans here and she said "I love my Texans. They keep me in business." Another business owner that runs a breakfast and lunch place also love Texans.

The trend here is business owners, realtors and the like all love the visitors. It tends to be others that have the issue with Texans.

I've been here 6 years and it rarely pops up. It's the same people that constantly complain about housing prices and everything else that will make a snarky comment but I don't worry about it. People around where I live are nervous about the virus spiking because of visitors but they understand they make the economy. My kids get to go to really nice public schools because 60% of property taxes in the county are from second home owners that don't have kids in the school.

Just an FYI - if all of TX keeps coming up here not wearing masks and preaching about their constitutional rights - TX will be placed on a travel restriction - the grumbling are almost at a roar level and we all see what's happening - if you come from a state that's Corona central and think we're cool being putting us in harms way - you're a fool - I'll be real - we don't want most of TX here, we don't need TX here to make a great living, and the last thing we will let happen is TX vacations endanger our families over politics - it's all about being respectful to the people that call CO home - it's not about your vacation - it's about our lives.

When counties and municipalities are having to pass emergency mandatory face coverings (which is happening), the next step is an outright travel restriction.. Eagle County is not far from making that a reality if things don't change dramatically.

If every local wears a mask inside and out - follow their lead - don't make it about you. Be the person that steps up and respectfully changes our opinion. I know the 12th man - don't make us look like a bunch of tu Suppository Sallies or Bank of Mom and Dad SMU grads.

It's really simple - if can't or don't want to wear a mask - stay home or go camping by yourself. All you're doing is making it more likely you won't be welcomed back until this **** passes for good.

If you didn't need us, you wouldn't have started this thread.

My anecdotal evidence;

My little town in suburbs of Denver, all I've seen is large majority wearing masks. Still now to this day. In stores, restaurants, retail.

I was in Houston end of May, and I saw very few people with masks. Bars were full, restaurants were full, gas stations were full.. no one with a mask. It's no wonder now a month later they are having a full blown explosion of cases. How more obvious can the cause/effect be?

I was in Utah over the weekend, Moab, and same thing. Downtown lined with people walking, restaurants full, jeep rental places full, our camp site was full, no one with a mask. And they are spiking.

I don't get it. Put the ****ing mask on.

I'm with op. If you can't wear a mask, don't leave your city/town. Let your area suffer, not someone else's.

62strat, you are logical in your reasoning. The pushback against OP is his condescending, jackass approach. Not to mention his arrogance and belittling of Texans.

This is correct. I am going to CO in August and fully plan the mask deal wherever it's mandated, as well as being as nice as possible to everyone in Colorado. Love the state.

But the attitude of the OP is atrocious.

Here is the problem. It's not mandated in my town, but people wear it because it's the smart/right thing to do. Why do you need government telling you that wearing a mask is what you should do? It's common sense at this point.

There's plenty of threads on this site for both sides of the argument, but I think there's some valid questions on the utility of slowing the spread. If I'm in a place it's required I wear one, and if I'm around old people I do so voluntarily (or try to avoid them altogether).

Another note: GTFO of the left lane of you aren't actively passing someone. It's not a camping lane.

I'm on board with this 100% no matter what state you are in. The worst though is the person pulling the 38' bumper pull with their Ford Focus going about 10mph with their engine screaming in the left lane up a mountain pass. Even scarier is that person going down the pass.

Also, ECC is proposing an OOS travel restriction or 14 quarantine for specific states air travel: AZ FL and TX are the top of the list. Supposedly Denver city council is taking it up next week.

It was just a matter of time.

You guys think it's a game, but we still don't.

Even better - in the winter w no proper traction device (against the law but who follows the laws nowadays) who's then shocked when brakes catch or the slide across both lanes resulting in a multiple hour total closure.

Delay the inevitable and destroy your economy at the same time. Brilliant.

I would imagine those in CO with a big time anti-Texas attitude are also bleeding-heart hipsters who think a state they transplanted to is "theirs", and have zero idea how any of that state came to be or operates.

Everyone I encounter in the mountains is super friendly except for the ski shop bums or baristas. Wonder why.

I'm just here to learn, and please pardon my ignorance - what is ECC?

Following because I'm tentatively planning on camping near Estes in a couple of weeks, but I fully expect to have to cancel any day now.

Just to add - been faithfully wearing the masks since before it was fashionable and/or a law/mandate.

Thanks for the insider info!

I want to clarify for potential visitors that mask requirements are on a county by county (and sometimes city/town) basis- it is not a mandate from the state. Our governor has recommended masks however in Routt County (Steamboat Springs), we have been wearing masks inside businesses since April.

I don't think there is any credibility to the statement that the State of Colorado will implement mandatory quarantines for visitors from specific states although this is a different discussion at a local level.

Since the science is so obvious, why is LA county exploding with cases? They have been wearing masks for a long time.

And I live in Houston. Anywhere you went that "no one with a mask" was a rare exception. No one wears masks in Collin County. They keep going down. Whats the obvious cause/effect on that?
