Also, when I started low key churning a few years back, I always made me and my wife each other's authorized user. But I've read that it counts towards 5/24, so I should probably stop doing that I reckon. Anyone know for sure If that counts?

Yea it counts at first, but if you call in and explain the situation Chase reps are known to go around AU accounts and not count those. So, you might get rejected, and then approved when you call in for reconsideration and explain the AU accounts. Kind of a little hassle, but not a huge deal imo.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

Applied for the CIP. Fingers crossed.

I'll have to MS a little but will likely go for the Hyatt card as well. In the past, I have "pre-paid" my annual home/auto insurance online despite it already being paid in full for the year. The company just cuts me a paper check for the over payment. Nice way to wash some money. Haha.

Well played. SW should be an affordable way to get to Hawaii soon, whenever they open that up.

Ive thought about timing that with my wife, where we both get it at the same time, and it would cover our two kids for flights. Between the CP, the points, the ability to transfer Chase UR over to SW- that's a lot of potential cheap travel.

Approved for the CIP!

I know business cards usually don't show on personal credit apps but any feedback on applying for a personal card with Chase after applying for a business?

Credit score is 815 and I'm only at 1/24 now after my accidental app o rama of Sept 2017 when I was new to the points game. Looking to get the higher Hyatt bonus before Jan 8.

I'll send you a referral link for Hyatt if you want if you need it to get the extra 10K points for each of us.

I think they allow a max of 2 apps within 30 days.

I'm at 5/24 personal cards until March; can I get a chase SW business or does that follow 5/24 as well?

I want to get companion pass for our trip in June, but with an April sign up, it will be cutting it close since it's a $5k bonus spend.

You have to be under 5/24 to be approved for their business cards as well. Once you get approved tho it doesn't add to your 5/24 count, which is nice if you are 5/24 sensitive.

Doctorofcredt.com has some good write ups on all the major credit companies rules

To my knowledge, chase uses 5/24 to approve business cards, so you'd likely not be approved; however once you are at 4/24, a business card should not count against 5/24

Correct as above. Anyone that needs a SW referral, let me know. I've got the lower personal card and the business card.

dang, I did it backwards then. I signed up for the personal sw chase back in nov.. sounds like I should have done the business so then I could do personal now.

gonna be hard for me to apply in april for business then make the spend in may in order to get bonus by mid june for the flight.

Stupid question probably but if I get both southwest bonuses and get companion pass, can I cancel or downgrade the cards and keep the rapid rewards points and companion pass to avoid the next years annual fee?
Bulldog73
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes, you can. Don't do it right after you get the bonuses though. Sometimes they'll try to get the points back.
DonaldFDraper
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Only option is to cancel. No downgrade options on SW cards. They do give anniversary bonus points so depending on how you value the points, it could be worth it to pay the annual fee.

I went ahead and paid them this time, but I'll refer my wife in December and was planning for the future.

You obviously have a year to use it before fee hits again. If you keep the card, you can make a purchase once a month or so to ensure your points stay active.

It's highly discouraged, if not illegal, but you could have sold something on EBay or Amazon before. Or consulted a neighbor about your industry, or even set up a WiFi router for a twenty. Don't lie, but think of business opportunities.
For a sole-prop application there is nearly no bar that is too low to get over.

You get in trouble when you say your business has a name, and you can't provide any proof of it.

My wife tutors kids in english on the side so that's easy. We still run her apps as a sole prop. Any type of little service you provide works.

The most common recon is a ebay based buy/sell business. And you don't have to have the revenue in the past, you are getting this card to support future revenue. That's something that is also overlooked.

Chase/Southwest is offering a 30k pt bonus, with a 2019 companion pass (CP) with this card (the CP doesn't count in 2020):

Link here

If you get a CP the old fashioned route with 2 SW credit card bonuses, you'd get it for the rest of the year, & the following year. So, the CP here doesn't last as long as that. However, if you wanted a cheap and easy way to get a CP with Southwest for the rest of 2019 with just 1 card, then this should interest you.

That's a pretty good offer for someone to get their feet wet with. They also had a couple great offers for California residents last year. Only time in my life I wished I lived in CA.

Wow never seen that before. Wish this came out back in November when I signed up for it!

I have to sign up for business now to get it, and I'm still awaiting the decision (it's been 8 days)
Cyprian

Yea, it is a suprising offer. I think they will get a lot of new customers from this promotion. The OG way of getting a CP has been becoming more difficult, this one just sort of throws it out there with a smaller bonus and a shorter lifespan. I wonder how this all shakes out.

It's a really bad offer. But if you just want the CP and don't care about anything else. Fine.

I had this card 2 years ago, used it to get the miles (went to the Florida game at the Swamp!!) and then cancelled it

Can I get it again?
Can I signup my wife for it and use my SWA account?

why is it really bad? Figure person uses CP 5 times, 6k a flight, that's 30k points, plus 30k signup, it's about like a normal bonus.

Not bad if you use the CP, but I'm sure they are counting on the average usuage to be 1.xx over the 11 months.

even using CP 1 time, that's at least 8k points if not 15-20k.
A normal card bonus is 40k so I don't know how one could think a 30k offer plus companion pass is way worse.

It is a short fuse CP. You are burning a 5/24 slot for a CP that can be had for 23 months on the same index with more than 2x the RR points.

If you are simply a casual churner, fine. Go for it, but this is absolutely not worth a slot.
Bulldog73

But you're also able to still earn the CP pass the regular way. Yes, it'll take a 10k more spend than usuall, but those 30k points are a nice leg up to 110k especially when put totgether woth a 60k business sign up.

My strategy is burn 5/24 on ath offers. Special circumstances can play in but they need to be super special. The old fashioned way is more efficient use of spend. I mean if a heavy MS person 10k spend is nothing. But that's not who this offer is after.
