Looks good. I've probably said it in this thread before but I loved the few times I've done the Black Hills. Underrated.

Very cool! I don't know if I'll ever do that trip but I'd love to if I can find the time.

Once we hit 63, I'm going to do a video. It'll mostly be still photos with some videos mixed in, all set to music. I just need to figure which software to use.

It was a good trip for the family....we had my younger daughter and some inlaws (in their 60s) so quite a range of ages/ability

The lower 100 miles is quite a bit more chill, and the j-rig raft has several different seating areas to accommodate different experiences....up front on the fingers was the wet and wild, sitting up on top of the storage bins was splashy, and sitting in the back you barely felt any of the rapids.

If it was just me, my wife, and my son....I'd want to do the first 200 miles in a dorry boat.

Saguaro National Park outside of Tucson was a nice challenging hike with some great views.

We got lucky with that shot. We had actually driven to Grand Prismatic but there was way too much fog to see anything so we came back and walked the Old Faithful area. That guy just happened to be there, too.

We booked a day trip with Yellowstone Llamas for a hike and picnic on the very west side of the park, north of west Yellowstone. We just wanted to do something different. It was in the park, off the Daley Creek Trailhead. Beautiful hike…and even more fun with llamas. That one is named Lupe.

Who did you use for the tour Antelope Canyon?

Bryce for me is very useful that it became my favorite.

Just had to cancel a trip next week to Denver for a BB game, then on to Arches, Canyonland, Bryce, the North Rim and a side trip to Page and Antelope Canyon.

Apparently just before we sat down to watch OF (according to a few people we sat next to), a person ran out up to the edge of OF to peer over the edge of it, and as he made it back on the viewing platform, he was met with a ranger and handcuffs!

Nice. I saw video of jackasses on dirt bikes harassing bison in Lamar valley. That kind of crap needs to be jail time

The arch was better than I expected but still not worthy of being a NP.

Also made a stop to Hocking Hills State Park in Southern Ohio - it was better than all 3 of these NP's.

I've always heard that Hocking is one of the best state parks in the country

i can see that. it was amazing and worth the stop. I only had one full day there but would have loved two.

we lucked out and started at 7am but by 10am the crowds were hitting.

Would you mind sharing your itinerary for GTNP and YNP? My daughter and I are talking about doing a last minute trip before school starts and I don't really have time to do all of the researching I would normally do...

Is there anything cool to see just inside the Idaho border near Grand Teton? I don't want to go far out of the way but it would be nice to cross Idaho off the list since we'll be so close.

We stopped in Crater Lake last week. Would have stayed a little longer but we were attacked by giant mosquitoes. Here is 1 photo.

not my favorite but definitely worth visiting is Mt Rainier. the skyline loop trail is a top 10 national park hiking trail.... we visited last Friday and had perfect weather and great views of rainier. the parking lot fills up fast. we arrived about quarter to noon and had to park about 500 feet down the road from the visitor center.

I agree with those. Zion and Yosemite are my favorites. Glacier is epic too.

Personally, I have the Tolmie Peak Trail as my #1 day hike ever.

never heard of it. where is that trail? is that at rainier?

My bad. Yeah! At MRNP. It's a 6-ish mile out and back hike up to a fire lookout tower. I've never done the loop (need to), but I can't imagine anything beating the hike up to Tolmie Peak. Maybe Angel's Landing or Half Dome.

At GTNP, we only had 1 day. We took ferry across Jenny Lake, then hiked back, about 2.5 miles.

At yellowstone we were staying in west yellowstone, MT
On day 1 we did the canyon area, and then drove south around big loop along the lake back to MT
Day 2 we did old faithful area, grand prismatic, that is a whole day easily.
Day 3 we went up to tower falls, then drove through lamar valley, turned around, went on north loop over to mammoth springs, then back home. We wished we skipped lamar valley and spent more time in mammoth springs area.

Doesn't seem like much, but that is three 8 hour days. With those paths, we drove every part of the grand loop.
Def. anticipate being stopped on the road for wildlife sightings and construction. So you think you can do 100 miles in say 3 hours, but it could be 4 or more.
