I'm afraid it's not CYs call. I could be wrong but sounds like he's limited to what ownership decides and it doesn't help some of these player contracts have no trade clauses to limit movement. I'm afraid we're heading to another 5 years of mediocrity before seeing any future success.

Digging in a little more on just how ridiculous this season has been.

Against the NL, the much better league in MLB--Rangers are 19-17.
In the AL, the much better division is the AL East--Rangers are 12-10.
Against the second-best AL Division, the AL Central--Rangers are 12-12.

That's 43-39 against non-AL West teams.

And 17-23 against the worst division in baseball, including 3-7 against the stinko Angels, 3-4 against the A's (which will probably be worse after this weekend), and 4-9 against the Astros, who are only in first place and above .500 because they get to play the Rangers 13 times.

For the umpteenth time, thank God for 2023. Otherwise, we would be the MLB version of the Buffalo Bills still. Frustration beyond understanding.

Lots of questions to be answered this offseason. This team isn't going anywhere as it it is currently constructed. Aside from our struggles offensively, we are also not very good defensively. I can't think of any position where we are elite other than maybe Carter in center (but he's hitting .190) and Duran wherever he plays.

To me, it all starts with Seager. He has to be open to playing 1B. If he would agree to that move, we upgrade defensively at 1B over Burger. Then, that allows Duran to play SS, which is an upgrade over Seager.

Curiosity is that Davis said CY would have a lifetime contract if he moved one of 3 big contracts. Since he didn't do they decide to move on from him.

It wouldn't surprise me terribly if CY didn't return next year. But having said that, this is the organization that kept JD for 17 years, so who knows.

Lol, not sure why you are on this thread then. And for this team, right about now is when they will go on a 8-2 streak over the next 10 games.

I grew up watching a lot of bad Ranger baseball, so giving up isn't really in my DNA. Usually by now, they were 10+ games out of playoff contention. This year, for all of their faults, they are still in the mix.

Getting Lieter bachata will help. Losing Eovaldi and DeGrom is pretty bad.

The franchise definitely has underachieved most of it's existence, but some of you got so spoiled by 2023.

If you're already turning things off or already wishing for the death knell, then find another team to be a bandwagon fan for. I get being critical of performance, but waiving the white flag is just defensive pessimism -- if we continue to suck you'll pat yourself on the back for being right, if we turn it around you'll just eat "crow" that nobody cares about.

There's literally posters in this thread making declarations on the season outcome that posted we were "finished" the week before the playoffs in 2023. Just zero mental fortitude.

I'm right there with both of you. Been watching/listening to the Rangers for over 45 years. It is very frustrating. Even 2023, I didn't think we had a chance at any point of the season or playoffs. Even up to the last out of the WS. But I was watching.

I'll typically take some time off in the middle of summer, just because I watch every night and other things get neglected, especially during west coast trips. But it's not over.

Seattle is on a skid and it can happen to Houston any day. We just have to hang on and hope for the best.

Does that mean I buy into the hype or I'm drinking the kool-aid. Nope, I'm critical and it is hard watching bad baseball. But we've had some good stretches this season and can do it again.

Buck up Rangers fans, we've got about 45 days until we can call it quits for 2026.

I don't root for the opposing team.

But this year is lousy, just like almost all of the others in franchise history. That is an indisputable fact. So fans will complain. Did anyone celebrate our egg laying title in the 1999 wild card vs. NYY after a 95 win season? No, because we knew Texas had no chance vs. NYY. Same sentiment this year even if we sneak in.

And I bet there were more than a few people in the clubhouse and front office that thought Texas was dead multiple times in 2023.

I'll use a get out of jail free card for 2023 and still have 50 left to burn. This franchise owes us so much more.

That how baseball go. This franchise has had some good years. Not many can say they have been in 3 World Series and at least won 1, (should have been 2).

A baseball season is a war of attrition. My biggest complaint has been the manager. Was cautiously optimistic about Skip but he is not very good. Not sure he ever will be.
