I would say this is reactionary, most days but 2-5 against the two worst records in baseball is inexcusable.

After the Astros debacle and trade deadline, I said they needed to go 5-1 at home vs the garbage giants and o's then 5-2 on this trip for me to feel like they were really back in it.

4-2 on the homestand was fine but this last week is just inexcusable. There's no reason seager shouldn't be available to pinch hit. There's no reason they should only score 2 runs today and the dog**** they offered in Anaheim.

And just read a's hadn't won a home series since APRIL!

Could be worse - I could have bought a post season ticket package.

1) Body language
2) Team seems to play worse when the veterans are im the lineup
3) Player health
4) Regression of prospects
5) TOTAL lack of confidence in the ABS
6) Getting schooled by teams who are doing nothing more than playing the game the right way

Only thing I would add to this is:

7) Getting schooled by teams that are phoning it in, trying to lose, and staffed by so-so AAAA players because they have 5 starters on IL.

With the way this team is heading over the next several years, I don't think you're going to find many quality managerial candidates willing to take this job. Skip is probably making a top-10 manager salary, so I expect them to keep him for at least another year and a half before eventually firing him with one year remaining on his contract. I believe he signed a four-year deal, partly because his son is playing baseball at TCU.

We're probably headed into a five-year stretch of being stuck in baseball purgatory. At this point, all you can hope for is that we draft well, develop our young players, and get lucky enough to land multiple top-five picks through the draft lottery

Really wishing we held onto will venable right now. I thought he was crazy going to the south side. Now, they're going to win the central.

Got an absolute scheduling gift against the two worst teams in baseball back to back to really get back into the playoff race and still managed to blow it.

At least the Astros are losing as well to make it even more obvious that this division is there for the taking.

And, we have the subpar Nationals and Angels coming to town this week. What could go wrong? We'll probably put up 10 runs per game. Balls flying out of the park, probably.

No. We will probably lose both series and the Astros will get swept to make it even worse.

A **** team is going to make the playoffs in the AL this year, probably two.

There's about 5 teams, and whichever one goes on that 10-2 heater is making it.

I don't think it'll be us, but I also don't think any of the other teams are a shoe-in either.

And if you make it... You play a best of 3 series and then a division series likely against the White Sox. About as favorable a draw as one could hope for.

I still can't believe, in the middle of a playoff race, that Corey Seager needed a day off yesterday with an off day coming today. Not even available to pinch hit.

He did go 1st to 3rd on a single for the first time all year so he was probably exhausted

Well, as bad as we have been, we still have a shot at this thing. To me, it comes down to three main things - and it all has to do with heath.

1.) Gotta have Josh Jung back
2.) Need one of the catchers from RR to replace Wynns - Ohoppe or Jansen
3.) Have to keep the main guys healthy and playing the rest of the season, particularly Langford, Seager, Evo, and deGrom.....who have all missed considerable time.

Will be at the game tomorrow to start up the 10 game win streak.

I am going to assume Jung is at least a week away. Saw recently that he had resumed "baseball activities" or something similar. But he'll need to progress each day a bit, then maybe a game or two in RR or Frisco. So maybe in a week is my guess.

I think I saw that Jansen went to either RR or Friscso, so maybe he will be back early this week, maybe Tuesday after the off day.

Debatable.

It's not like he's a first time manager. This is his 3rd season as a MLB manager. Maybe this is as good as it gets. Maybe he'll get better. But it's not a certainty, and questioning his viability as the manager is a legitimate conversation.
