This screenshot is inaccurate.

Watching live it looked like the ball hit the guy standing to the left of the foul pole and bounced off him, passed the front of the pole, and hit again on the right side.

So yeah the screenshot makes it look fair but it was pretty clearly foul. Close but it was obvious.

I almost hate the seamen as much as I do the rangerettes so I've been really enjoying this nosedive by those ass holes.

the Mariners on the past 5 years have really underachieved considering their starting rotation

their starting pitching has been good and healthy -- and that's usually the most important thing for building a winning team

but Seattle hasn't been able to make it work outside the 2025 season

2022 was their best shot, they would've stood toe to toe (rotation-wise at least) with NYY and PHI but they got matched up with us in round one.

Postseason payback is owed. I'd love to serve some up to Detroit and Arlington.

I hear you but I've lived in the DFW area for the last 30+ years so that definitely colors my perspective. They were INSUFFERABLE when they won it all in '23, especially my neighbors.

Rangerettes are complaining about their hitting coaches. Who, oh who, might hold the title of Major League Hitting Coach for the Texas Rangers? Yep, your BFF and mine, Hackathon Cintron. They actually hired the bum. Idiots!

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

My only regret is that Servais is not still their manager so we could get shots of his "Just ate prunes" facial expressions while watching them flail around and lose.

I know there are folks here that would like to see Miller fired as pitching coach, so would you like to see Mike Maddux hired to replace him?

The pitching has gotten,l much, much better as the season has gone on.

It's almost like not using or having bad pitchers means you'll get good pitching.

From ESPN on Abreu

There has perhaps been no bigger development in the Astros' surge to the top of the AL West standings than Bryan Abreu finding himself as a late-game weapon. The hard-throwing right-hander had a 12.54 ERA at the end of April and no real role in the Astros' bullpen. But over a stretch of 35 appearances since May 3, he's 4-1 with six saves, a 1.87 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 33 innings.

Doesn't matter much because the lead hitting coach just quit mid-season to take the same role at Wake Forest. Seems REALLY odd to me unless he just didn't want to be in MLB anymore. I will say that we don't appear to be doing nearly as well in the last week or two offensively without him than we were before he quit.

Our pitching has improved steadily as the pitchers we put out there have learned how to put pitches in the strike zone. It puts a lot more pressure on the hitter when they know they can't just watch four pitches and get a walk while waiting for a middle-middle FB on 3-0 to drive. Who knew?

Yeah, I just thought it was odd that he wouldn't finish out the season here since Wake's season doesn't start for another 5-6 months.

Yeah. Looks like Wake hired a former Astros coach on the pitching side (Eric Niesen) in June last year.

Like I said...the pitchers we are putting out there now seem to understand that throwing strikes is an important part of being able to get guys out. The ones you mentioned seemed a bit unclear on that concept.

Astros Bingo Update: 8-13-26
Spreadsheet Link

Reasons to Smile
That has to be the ugliest win I have ever seen.
If you want to put this struggle season in perspective in terms of our recent string of successes, tune in tonight to watch the Texans' preseason opener: a team that has yet to make it to the round before the Super Bowl in its now 25-year history and whose most important player might throw for 350 yards and 3 touchdowns or 82 yards and 5 interceptions on any given Sunday.

Reasons to Barf
The August Bregman phenomenon returns as he hit 3 HR and drove in 7 yesterday and suddenly is on pace to hit his Bingo squares.
I'm actually thinking about watching a Texans pre-season game tonight. Damn you, irresistible football!

A Square to Remember
Things that will likely hit in the next 7 days:

Rockies 52+ wins. They're up to 48. Remarkable achievement after going 43-119 a year ago and having to play LA 13 times a year.
Yordan 125+ games played. He's at 120 and he's not allowed to rest or we lose automatically.

Astros' Flashback: August 13, 1991: In a sneak preview of the team that will mature into the squad that won 4 division titles in five years from 1997-2001, the youthful Astros get off the deck and turn a 9-2 deficit into a 12-9 win over San Diego. It's 9-2 5 innings, but H-Town gets 3 in the 6th, 5 in the 7th and 2 in the 8th. Steve Finley, Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, and Luis Gonzalez combine to collect 7 hits and drive in 8 runs. Four Astro pitchers hold Tony Gwynn without a hit. He enters the game batting .337.

And now the late-season sensation, sweeping the nation

What Have You Become?

A look at MLB teams much more disappointing than the Astros in 2026.

Day 4 Entry: Sacramento/Oakland/Vegas A's

2025 Finish: 76-86, 2 years removed from going 50-112 in 2023
2026 Current: 47-74, tied for last in the AL West, on pace to go 64-98

The Skinny:
The A's were 38-38 and game out of first on June 19 after a thrilling 12-11 walkoff win over the Angels. They have gone 9-36 (.200) since then. In that span, they've had losing streaks 10, 9, and 4 twice.
They've lost Brent Rooker and Nick Kurtz two All-Star caliber players, along with Zach Gelof, Denzel Clark, Luis Severino, J.T. Ginn , and Shea Langeliers to injury.

Charley's expert analysis: Jesus hates gambling. The A's and Raiders will never win a title in Sin City. I know their hockey team won something, but hockey isn't a real sport.

We are in position to administer a kill shot on the reeling Mariners this weekend.

We need to sweep them like we did Texas and make the division a two team race (or toddler crawl).

But fewer runs per game, which may average out but is certainly notable.

Besides that, Mr. Ackshually, I was just laughing at our friends from the north, not defending their position.
