We will throw 7 Arms in a game 9-0 before anyone took the bump.

That is the 2026 season.

Joe over-manages, that's why

My wife asked a little while ago, "why does Joe bring in the Sugar Land Space Cowboys to finish our games?"

Nice win. Let's win the series and keep it up

No reason to not go 4-2 at worst against KC and Detroit

No reason. Except this team could go 2-4 without batting an eye. Let's be real. They just lost 2 of 3 to the Angels.

Oh for sure. I'm just putting it out there that they have zero excuses if they don't go 4-2 at least.

I think Espada should be fired, but I feel for him. He doesn't always make the right calls, but he looked petrified when King almost gave up the lead. I feel him. What more can you do with the **** he was given?

Dana and Crane have ****ed this team much worse than Joe. Joe sucks, but he's not as bad as the front-office.

It sucks because we can all see the potential on occasion. There just isn't any pitching, but the bats are there.

Joe finishes the season come what may. Y'all just need to come to grips with this.

And that expresses what is wrong with team management in one statement. They accept failure. Joe is not the guy. It is obvious, everybody can see it. You have somebody on the bench that could be the guy. So why make him sit behind the guy you already know isn't it for the rest of the season? Why not give him a tryout and see if he can milk a little more out of the slop Dana has served up than Joe did? Why not? Because they accept failure as long as there are butts in the seat to watch it.

I don't think Joe is the guy but I don't really blame him for yesterday or for this team in general. Imai was our big signing for the offseason, is given a 9-0 lead, and can't make it through a full inning. Now we've used most of our bullpen and we have our other big offseason pitcher acquisition Burrows and his nearly 6 era going today. How many innings will he make it through?

Reason to Smile:
9 run first, Yordan, Yordan some more, we tried to choke a 9-0 lead but couldn't.
Brice Matthews is looking pretty good out there for the inevitable rebuild.
George Springer punked the Yankees last night. George is having the worst season of his career but last night he was 1 for 2 with 3 runs scored, a 2-run homer, and 3 walks as the Jays beat NY 8-5.
Yordan is now on pace for 54 HR, 123 RBI and 379 total bases.

Reasons to Barf
Imai's ERA goes flying back up to 6.43 against a team with 1 good hitter. after 3 quality starts in a row

Astros flashback of the day: June 13, 1999. One of the scariest moments in team history occurs during the eight inning at home against the Padres when manager Larry Dierker suffers a massive grand mal seizure and collapses in the dugout. Dierker can't talk and is shaking uncontrollably. He's treated in the dugout for 20 minutes and then rushed to Methodist Hospital. Doctors find a tangle of blood vessels in his brain has ruptured. They do surgery that day. The game is suspended an Matt Galante is promoted to interim manager. Remarkably, Dierker only misses 27 games and returns in style with the Astros rallying from down 6-0 to beat Detroit 8-6.

And now, the newest sensation, sweeping the nation.

Day 29 spotlight: Teddy Perkins

Current Bingo Score: 1
Place: Tied for 4rd with 50 other people
Squares Achieved: Rangers suck and that's it.
Predicted Astros record: 88-74 Just need to finish the year 56-35 (.615).

Squares that look like future wins:
Colorado > 52 wins
Diaz < 80 RBI
Yordan > 25 HR
Yordan > 80 RBI
Pena <18 HR
Jake <.280
Hader < 30 saves
Hader < 90 strikeouts
Judge <50 HR

Squares that are technically still humanly possible:
Dodgers < 102 wins

Squares that haven't aged so well:
Walker < 85 RBI
Hunter > 190 K
Trout < 100 games

If you didn't watch "Atlanta", here's why Teddy Perkins is a little strange.

This team reminds me so much of the 2000 team. Pitching sucked, lots of injuries, hitters were banging lead by one guy (Bagwell / Yordan) going nuclear. Health and the emergence of two young stud pitchers (Miller and Oswalt) were key to a resurgence in 2001 to the playoffs. Not sure we have the internal equivalent to that in the farm so I think a turnaround next year is going to require Crane sucking it up for a legit top end starter in free agency like Peralta.

Not to mention Weiss being signed and now DFA'd not even 3 months into the season.

If Burrrows is serious about going after Lima Time's club record of 48 HR allowed, he's going to need to start picking up the pace.

Burrows is at 17 HR allowed entering today's game. In 2000, Lima had 22 at this point, including a remarkable 5 allowed during a 12-3 loss to the Cubs in which he gave up 12 earned runs in 5 innings. Four of those homers in the top of the first including shots by all-time sluggers Eric Young Sr., former Astro Ricky Gutierrez, and Damon Buford.

That first season at Enron messed with Lima bigtime. He never understood how big the OF was, especially the original CF. All he saw was the short porch.

At least Burrows consistently eats innings. Teng and Imai can't seem to do that.

Burrows has made 13 starts and I think I'd consider 3 of them to be good.

For me it was between Burrow sand Imai. I don't think you can do anything with Imai just because it was basically Crane's deal.

For Teng, at least he will most of the time give you 3-4 innings where you are in the game, the last game withstanding. Burrows, you could be down 6-0 in the 2nd and then he'll give you 6 innings.

I'd rather have 3-4 innings of 2-3 run ball from Teng than 6 innings 6 run ball from Burrows.

Maybe not totally ditch it. Just stop using it 50% of the time as your first pitch.

Either he's being stubborn or CV isn't calling it well for him.

I'm betting that Imai solves the problem by opting out the day after the season ends. I think he wants to head back to Japan. Maybe "hoping" is a better word, but it would be the best outcome (aside from him pitching like Ohtani or Yamamoto, of course).

And then, maybe Crane will find a GM he trusts to make the baseball decisions. He doesn't need to play Jerry Jones ever again.
