Reviewing Morrison's four transfer portal pickups

Jamie Morrison and the Fightin’ Texas Aggie volleyball team open the 2026 season on Friday with a neutral-site showdown vs. No. 7 Louisville in the AVCA First Serve. We’re looking ahead to the upcoming campaign with our 2026 Texas A&M Volleyball Preview Series.

After a national championship, head coach Jamie Morrison elected to reload, not rebuild.

Morrison hit the portal hard after the 2025 run, grabbing four pieces from all across the country. Superstars like Logan Lednicky and Ifenna Cos-Okpalla, along with several other valuable seniors, will be difficult to replace, but this group of players entering the fold will continue to keep the Aggies competitive.

#17 Natalie Ring – Graduate Outside Hitter – Marquette
Looking to be the most impactful addition of this offseason, Ring comes in as a veteran presence to help bridge the gap with such a young team. The third-team All-American ranked in the nation’s top 25 in kills during the 2025 season with 497. She brings versatility on defense as well, racking up 197 digs and 46 blocks last year.

Ring started the Maroon & White scrimmage with the Maroon team, projecting as a starter on opening night. That starting position is deserved with all of the accolades she’s claimed in her career, including being on the AVCA Player of the Year Watch List heading into 2026. The Madison, Wisc., native brings an intimidating presence to the court for A&M. With no glaring weaknesses in her game, opposing teams will find it nearly impossible to get a leg up on her.

#12 Lily Nicholson – Senior Setter – Florida State
Another veteran on the squad, Nicholson comes to Aggieland with 83 matches played in her first three collegiate seasons. Nicholson will be a huge part of the passing game this season for the Aggies. The McKinney native tallied a team-leading 594 assists last season for the Seminoles, as well as collecting 255 digs and 17 kills.

Nicholson’s biggest advantage coming to A&M is her experience playing in two Power Four conferences. Playing in both the Big 12 (TCU) and ACC (Florida State), Nicholson has experience playing in big games against some of the best teams in the country. With her passing prowess, Nicholson will be a key piece in developing the offense for the Maroon & White this year.

#19 Kaia Castle – Sophomore Middle Blocker – Ohio State
One of the younger additions, Castle comes in as one of the most respected blockers in the country, shattering the Ohio State single-game block record with 15. Being the center of the Buckeyes' squad last year, Castle totaled 200 kills and 91 blocks in 103 sets played.

Castle’s value comes from her combination of size and mobility. Morrison has claimed that it is very rare to see a middle with her frame who can move as laterally as she does. With the Buffalo, Minn., native being so young, Castle will have a lot of time to develop in the Morrison system and continue her growth as a cog in the Aggie machine.

#25 Eliza Sharp – Sophomore Middle Blocker – Boise State
A breakout star with a ton of potential, Sharp enters Aggieland after earning Mountain West Freshman of the Year honors last season at Boise State. The Burlingame, Calif., native also earned All-Mountain West team honors. Sharp will be crucial at the net, as she garnered 140 blocks with the Broncos in 2025, including two double-digit block games.

Sharp's versatility continues on offense, gathering 250 kills with a .323 hit percentage. Sharp gives A&M a new high-volume blocker with three years of eligibility left to develop. She, along with Castle, will have a lot of time to grow together in the program. The elite net presence will be something opposing teams will need to keep track of for years to come.

These transfers will make their Aggie debuts on Friday, Aug. 21, against Louisville at 5 p.m. CT in the 2026 AVCA First Serve at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisc.
