The Dodgers and Pirates are currently discussing a potential framework for a trade involving Superstar pitcher Paul Skenes, sources tell me.

The trade deadline is tomorrow, but there is optimism a deal could get done before then. pic.twitter.com/U2kjdTd4Q7
All I do is Nguyen said:The Astros are among teams to inquire about Marlins slugger Kyle Stowers, and they are engaged in ongoing discussions with Miami. Stowers, an All-Star with big power, just might be the extra lefty bat Houston needs.

He's often wrong, so I won't believe it until it happens, but I hope it's true and they can pull it off. He gets used as a pawn by Boras during free agency, and it wouldn't surprise me if teams leak things like this to him to put pressure on other teams.

As for Stowers, I hope he's coming in as an OF. If just for 1B, he's basically a LH Walker.

You don't think we're talking to the Marlins about Stowers?

I don't doubt we asked, I doubt it's still ongoing, I don't see how we have enough to pull that off and get the pitching Jim desperately wants. Also earlier today he said we were after Luis Garcia Jr which would have made zero sense. We don't need more infielders

Look how little Garcia cost. Why wouldn't we ask if that caliber of player is available?

How do you figure, he's a left handed Walker? Because he can play 1B?

... Also, vindication on the 6 win square, FINALLY!Interesting that George Springer played the outfield today. Just the second time all season he's done that

GOAT REPORT
With two hits today, Jose Altuve is up to 2,468 for his career. He passed Roger Connor for 110th and is now tied with Frank Thomas for 109th. Thomas has more than 1,000 extra plate appearances on Jose.
I never got to see Connor play, in part because he was born before the Civil War. He got his career going in 1880.
He led the league in WAR without knowing it three times and hit .371 in 1885. I'm sure those stats are extremely accurate. My favorite stat of his is that in 1894 he had 25 triples, but somehow that didn't lead the league. He made the Hall of Fame in 1976 via the Veteran's Committee. They asked him if he had a speech prepared, but it turns out he had died 45 years previously.
The Big Hurt is synonymous with two things: Having the exact same birth date as Jeff Bagwell and pretending like he's friends with Doug Flutie to get you to buy testosterone treatments. The former fullback from Auburn was crushing the ball from Jump Street hitting .330 at age 22 in 1990 in a 60-game call-up that saw him put up a .983 OPS.
His OPS totals over the next seven years were: 1.006, .975, 1.033, 1.217, 1.061, 1.085, 1.067. He won back-to-back MVPs in 1993 and 1994, and overall finished in the top 10 of the MVP voting NINE times, including in 2006 with the A's when he was 38 years old. He finished with 521 homers, a .301 batting average, and a .555 slugging %. He never played in the World Series and only made the ALCS one time, when his A's were swept by Detroit in 2006 and he went a god-awful 0 for 13.

Looks like Stowers has not played much 1B until this year, so that's good. Makes more sense to me, lol.
