Every single big hit every team gets against us is meat over the prime part of the plate. We don not make players earn their rewards. We are simply unable to locate anything when need to. Catcher calls for up and in? Low and center.. HR. Catcher calls for outside edge? Oops. Right down the middle. HR.

Our pitchers simply are not good.

$20 says hes going back to Seattle.

Its a $15MM one year contract with a 2027 option. Thats dead so basically the rest of 2026, call it $2.5 MM

Hes got 19 HR and slashing .208/.295/.410 wRC + 91 and WAR -0.4. Its not a bad bet for 28 games and with these teams being so bad, one small change and a hot player for a week can make the difference.

For a time there, Suarez was the Albus Dumbledore to Joey Gallo's Lord Voldemort in the race to lead the majors in strikeouts every year:

Today's Mood in Gif Form

SQUARE ALERT: The Colorado Rockies won their 52nd game last night, improving to 52-80. A year after going 43-119, they are one heck of a success story and on pace to lose fewer than 100 games. Picking up that square with their totals are:

JoeAggie1010 4
RED AG 98 6
KAF -2
wessimo - 5
Teddy Perkins 6
Fairview20 3
Mr. Bond - 5
gambochaman 3
rausr - 3

KYLE TUCKER: THE .220s ERA
That's right, the richest guy on the most despicable team went 0-for-5 to drop down to a season-low .228 last night. He also left 3 runners in scoring position in a 6-5 loss. In his last 15 days, he is 6 for 40 (.125) with an OPS of .322.

GOAT REPORT:
Jose Altuve's first-inning double was hit #2,490 of his career, tying him for 104th all-time with Fred McGriff. He is 10 away from 2,500 and 27 away from the Top 100 of all-time.

But, let's talk Crime Dog. McGriff was voted into the Hall of Fame by the Veterans' Committee in 2023. You will be happy to know that the Yankees drafted him in '81 then traded him away to Toronto for Tom Dodd and Dale Murray (not Dale Murphy). Tom Dodd went on to play 8 games in the majors for the Orioles. Murray, the pride of Cuero, Texas, pitched 62 games for the Yankees at the end of a solid career, going 3-6 with an -0.7 WAR. So basically, one of the worst trades of all time.
In the 1990 off-season, he was involved in one of the biggest star power blockbuster trades of all time, as he and shortstop Tony Fernandez went to the Padres in exchange for Joe Carter and Roberto Alomar. Seeing as how anyone hears "Joe Carter" and they imagine him hitting a World Series winning home run and the fact that Alomar is one of the greatest 2B post-World War II, it's safe to say the Blue Jays won that deal.
In '93, the Padres traded him to the Braves, which was great, because Atlanta needed elite hitting to compliment its all-time best pitching staff. McGriff played there for 5-1/2 seasons and won a ring in 1995, then got offed to Tampa Bay in its expansion era, where he was fantastic, but nobody saw it, because he played for Tampa Bay. After a f30 HR, 103 RBI year with the Cubs at age 38 in 2002, he hung around a little sadly in his quest for 500 HR. His skills depreciated significantly and he retired at age 40 with 493 dingers. Still, a fantastic career. .284 hitter, .509 career slugging, .886 OPS. Despite all that consistency, he never finished higher than 4th in the MVP race that in 1993.
He was lethal in the post-season. A career. 303 hitter in the playoffs with 10 home runs and 37 RBI in 50 games.

Astros' Flashback: August 27, 1965: In what is called the "defensive play of the century", the Pittsburgh Pirates are hosting the Astros at Forbes Field. Bob Lillis pushes a bunt down the third base line that the Pirates misjudge with the third baseman and the left-fielder both staring at each other. Lillis races around the bases but is thrown at third. How? Pirates' right fielder Roberto Clemente has sprinted across the outfield, picked the ball up, and gunned it to third baseman Walt Bond to tag Lillis out at third.
The Pirates go on to win 10-9. The teams combine for 35 hits in 11 innings. The game features four future Hall-of-Famers: Clemente, Joe Morgan, Bill Mazeroski, and Willie Stargell and two future Astro mangers Lillis and Bill Virdon, the Pirates' centerfielder.

YOUR DAILY CUP OF HOFA

The Astros might let you down every other day, but HOFA is there to pick you up.

The problem is Joe is managing this thing like he is 20 games above 500 and has a 10 game lead in the division
Giving everyone playtime, resting guys, blahblah
Same exact thing as last year

Someone needs to tell Joe that resting guys during the season to have them fresh at the end of it is pointless if they're not playing at the end.

Why would Joe really care now? Maybe if Omar were given a chance he'd do whatever it takes to win (kinda like he did when he won the WBC).

Yeah the whole resting guys is such a ridiculous trend...now for pitchers I get it with the amount of stress and torque we're now asking them to put on their arms but for everyday players it's absurd.

Diaz absolutely could have helped the team last night but we'll never know because Espada is a dumb ass. If he goes off tonight it will make it pretty clear he sees the ball well in this stadium (and his numbers prove it out) so just a monumentally dumb decision by our manager.

speaking of Altuve...

he has really bounced back in August -- far and away his best month since March/April

24 hits and 8 walks in 21 games -- including 6 x-base hits

OPS holding at .855 for the month

might have just taken a long time for the oblique injury to wear off

Now that he had a hot bat game for the first time since we got him, how much are you willing to wager on Varsho getting the day off today?

I could live without them too - but Isn't there a setting that lets you not download pics automatically? And the rule is all those pics are clearly labeled

I encourage anyone who who doesn't like the pics to put me on ignore. It's super easy if you have stars. My ignore list is enormous (although no one on this thread) and saves me a lot of stress when I'm on TexAgs.

I think posting hot girls in a TexAgs thread is major loser behavior.

Go somewhere else on the internet for that stuff.

Dudes being horny together is weird and lame.

Varsho has completely flipped the script on his time with Houston. He's gone from -.2 bWAR to .4 bWAR in just the amount of time it took us to give voice to a few screeds, here or there.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/HOU/2026.shtml

He's now within .3 bWAR of Cam's .7 bWAR contribution on the season. Dana is somewhere furiously fist pumping in a non salacious manner.

I'm not getting into the grander conversation here, but this isn't a great solution. Every other thread I frequent it's much more convenient to have them auto load.

I could certainly lube without them too, but it is what it is.

Also, I didn't see that TJ Friedl was put on waivers in addition to Suarez.

Those appear to be some carefully selected statistics for Fielder, which always makes me wonder why.

Looking deeper, his batting average at Fayetteville is .222 and his slugging percentage is .361, so there's the rest of the story.

It's not like we should have expected to get a real prospect in exchange for McCullers though.
