In what way? They literally bought by trading away prospects for big leaguer.

Crane doing what Crane does.

I wonder who leaked this?

I'm hoping it's Dana to show the world what he has been dealing with after Crane lets him go this offseason.

It was known what kind of an owner he was after getting rid Click after back to back WS appearances and a championship.

Isn't that why/how the Astros ended up with Dana? A quick google search says Dana was the 1st pick but my oldish brain remebers otherwise.

Think he's claiming "buying" and "burning cash" are two different things.

Listening to MLB radio yesterday afternoon, they speculated that LAD really want Skubal as a block against the brewers more than a need. They expect Snell and Glasnow back. They also expect Skubal will end up with LAD just because they have more to offer and basically don't give a flying **** about giving up prospects and money means nothing.

He could trade 90% of the AAA roster and I would be ok with that, provided Skubal signed on long term.

Hell, I'd trade 90% of our AAA roster even for just the remainder of this year for Skubal.

Our AAA roster sucks. The Tigers would laugh at that offer

They aren't looking to rebuild so I wonder if Yainer (who has more control) and some minor league pieces could work. Rutschman is a significant upgrade defensively.

They may not want to do it over the course of a whole season, but that is a situation where you could absolutely play Yordan in LF heavily in Sept/Oct if it got Correa back in the lineup.

Astros Bingo Update: 8-1-26

Square Alert: If you missed it last night, iBrad picked up a square for being the only person to pick the Astros to be in first place at the end of July.

Reasons to Smile
What last night felt like

My buddies and I played disc golf this morning and talked about last night seeming like a turn back the clock night. Great starting pitching, clutch hitting up and down the lineup, multiple homers. For one night at least, we were the Astros again.

Reasons to Barf
With Ronel Blanco on the mound tonight, there seems like a massive likelihood of backsliding.

Astros' Flashback: August 1, 1966 One year after Philadelphia's Dick Allen becomes the first player to hit a home run over the roof at Connie Mack Stadium (est. > 550 feet), Houston's Jimmy Wynn one ups him by hitting one not only over the roof, but over a 15-foot sign ON TOP OF THE ROOF. The game is bittersweet as in the bottom of the 10th, Wynn dives for a deep drive by Allen, crashes into the fence, and suffers multiple bone fractures, ending his season. Wynn returns with a vengeance in 1967, hitting 37 home runs -a team record that will stand for 27 years.

And now, the newest sensation, sweeping the nation.

While Springer was my favorite of the championship group, Carlos forever gained my respect for the way he stood up front when the scandal broke. Great to see how he's attacked his rehab and wants to get back playing. The anti-lolleygagger

Hard to draw a walk when you swing at all the pitches.

Tuve has to adopt more of a contact-over-power approach and start hitting line drives over all the pulled grounders. He gets some infield hits, but he needs to save his uppercuts for 3-1 counts, IMO.

Dropping him in the order is necessary.

We would be better putting him at leadoff where his hitting focus would be on getting on base instead of trying to drive in others who did. When he gets hung up on going for RBIs, he gets less selective, swings at everything (moreso than he normally would), and tries to pull everything.

Dropping Altuve to 6th in the lineup proves that Espada is actually managing to win. It's sort of shocking in a good way.
