Yep, baseball has both of my top 2 favorite sounds in all of sports:
- The sound of a fastball being caught by a catchers glove
- The sound of a baseball being hit by a wooden bat
Can't wait for another year of Astros baseball to start
Lance McCullers Jr.’s delivery looks a bit different these days. He says it’s a little bit more compact and arms up on release of his hands. He says it’s easier to make adjustments on the fly and is more repeatable. pic.twitter.com/lcSanZwfUc

I grew up on persimmon woods. You knew it immediately when you hit it on the screws. You could hear it and feel it. When metal came in everything turned into a "ping".tjack16 said:GigEmMortis said:

I'd add the sound of a cleanly hit golf shot to my sports sound list.

Not sure I completely understand that tweet. So he's getting$5 mil signing bonus plus $15 this season, with $20 deferred to some future date without interest? Do they not teach time value of money at LSU?

Yeah I think that's a mistake

Deferred half of the money and no interest. He wanted the optics of saying $40MM a year but knows he's not getting that.
And opt outs each year.
If he had a big year hitting against the monster, he's gone.

I've heard this from someone else..... he would still be insane to opt out and it's clearly obvious ballpark bias would play a role here. Maybe Colorado will open their checkbook

Well, if he mashes and hits an .850 - .900 OPS next year, I could see him testing free agency again and getting the longer term contract he desired.

Anything is possible. But any organization with a brain would see a guy who's been in decline for 5 years having a breakout year is super fishy and likely ballpark driven

I would say the same about 6/156 vs 3/90….but ego plays a bigger role than logic sometimes
