Love it
They don't sweat in that scenario. They feel great knowing they have their ex to sleep with anytime they want while looking for something better. At some point you out a deadline on it.Ag_07 said:
I think I'm ok just standing pat.
We know Crane is willing to go over the tax for Bregman. So tell him and Boras the offer is the offer, it's there when he's ready to sign it, and sit back and relax. Let them sweat it out.
The bus leaves for West Palm with or without Bregman so it's up to him at this point.
Sources: #BlueJays fans 👀 MAY have this visual by end of the weekend. Nothing done yet, but the Scherzer signing certainly helps the pitch to Alonso. #MoccBomb #StayTuned pic.twitter.com/cAWyZr0cMJ

I don't think they have an issue with the tax. They were in on Ohtani & Soto.
Jim Bowden on Foul Territory said the Blue Jays would only be in on Pete if the price came down.Farmer1906 said:

We had a better offseason than the Blue Jays but Heyman would never say that.

Something to remember, the current CBA ends after the 2026 season (2 years away). That is likely to be a very ugly showdown involving a work stoppage and potentially losing games in 2027 over a lot of the economic issues facing the game. Free agents this year and next might be less likely to go for the short term deals with opt outs because they won't want to be free agents possibly subjected to a new unknown system. I would hope this plays into our favor with Alex to where he would take a longer term deal rather than.a prove-it deal.
Or might have a big announcement to insure it's all about BreggyEastCoastAgNc said:Mark your calendars...the Bregman Cares Classic returns to @ConstellationEG Field February 7-9!

MLB network the other day was saying owners are willing to wait it out up to 18 months. Not sure where that came from, but to get a salary cap it would be something on that order. Then what would be left of the game. It was terrible after the last stoppage.
The Astros seriously pursued Jorge Polanco with plans to play him primarily at second base and move Jose Altuve to left field. Attention now turns toward Alex Bregman. https://t.co/hyi4CQMq4d

Yeah glad we didn't sign him for that kind of money

We didn't need Polanco and we don't need Bregman. I'm fine with our current roster and just rolling with new guys fighting for spots in the outfield
We have Doubon as an infield/outfield utility player. Not exciting, neither is Polanco

I agree with this mostly. We need OF help. Especially lefty hitting OF help and there are some decent guys out there who can be had cheap.

I don't get why we don't sign Ben Gamel on the cheap

Who remembers when we played games on good ole channel 51?
I'll show my age by remembering watching the Astros on HSE (channel 37 on cable). Even had Dierker in the booth before he became manager.

Gamel, Heyward, Verdugo, and even Grichuk even though he's a righty.
