maybe Dana and crane are playing 4d chess. Trade tuck now, and get the prospect they wanted and then drop major coin and sign him to a monster deal after this next season???AggiEE said:EastCoastAgNc said:Kyle Tucker’s goodbye video to Houston: pic.twitter.com/uOuCnXfaCR

"See you again" - Sign Tuck after he becomes a FA
Quote:
In a game starved for power, free-agent outfielder Anthony Santander is a switch-hitter coming off a career-high 44 homers. So, now that Soto is signed, why does Santander continue to linger on the market?
Three possible reasons:
His career .307 on-base percentage. His sprint speed, which last season ranked in the bottom 18 percent of the league. And his poor defensive metrics, even though Orioles manager Brandon Hyde last season praised his work in right field.
Teoscar Hernndez, 32, is two years older than Santander. His .320 career OBP is slightly higher. His defense, while hardly Gold Glove caliber, is slightly better, at least when he is in right instead of left field. And his sprint speed last season ranked in the 83rd percentile.
Santander, who is seeking a longer deal than Hernndez, according to sources familiar with each player's expectations, still figures to do well. But if teams view him as even somewhat one-dimensional, he could end up with a lesser deal than he desires.
The Astros "have emerged as a contender for Arenado", per @Feinsand. I have heard the same as well, which I said Friday.

I'm also hearing the Astros are continuing to look into Christian Walker. Biggest issue with Walker is cost and losing draft picks from his qualifying offer. pic.twitter.com/WJjvMFUaE7

Jim Crane has learned nothing from Anreu and Montero if they do this. If Nolan ends up on this team and that's the last offensive move, then the offense will have been downgraded for years to come.

The time has already passed to accept a QO so there's no need to rescind it.TarponChaser said:ttha_aggie_09 said:The Astros "have emerged as a contender for Arenado", per @Feinsand. I have heard the same as well, which I said Friday.

Can a qualifying offer be rescinded if a player takes longer than the org wants to decide? Like if we did a deal with Arenado could we tell Bregs "thanks for the memories but we're moving on."??

Really depends on how much we have to give up for him. He's only 1 year older than Bregman and at worst he hits like Bregman, at best he's better than Bregman.
I don't think it's necessarily a bad move or that he's the next Abreu. But I certainly don't think it ends our offseason, we would need a OF hitter who can play right

Bellinger to the Yankees.
I wonder if this takes them out of the Christian Walker market. If you recall my posts yesterday.....
Cody Bellinger has been told he will play centerfield for the Yankees

Christian Walker is still their number one target which hasn't changed since I mentioned him back around September. The tricky part is.. how long are they willing to wait?
Santander is also a possibility if they decide to shift to an OF bat.
If neither of those options happen or look like they will happen, Arenado is on the table which would move Paredes to first base.
They've checked in on a dozen or so guys so they can move fast once the dominoes start falling.
I remember saying Hader would be the number one target before the 2023 offseason. Can I go 2 for 2?

We don't need a 3Bman we need a damn OFer.
I guess the Astros kind of have 2 plans.texasaggie2015 said:
Not in terms of is he signing with Houston as much as the dominoes that will fall as a result of him signing anywhere if that makes sense
(Though there's still an outside chance he signs here)

Upgrading 1B and OF is top priority. Arenado is the fallback if they can't make that happen.
The Yankees should get Martin Maldonado too so they can complete their big 3 for the postseason 😭 pic.twitter.com/CbiaxLCSjn
