A 33 year old with a 4-year negative trend line? I'd rather sell everything and start over.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

Thoughts on working a trade with Minnesota to bring Correa back? Saw a random FB article talking about this.

Not a chance

I am pretty sure this means Crane is a real one.

Edit: I really should read things fully before posting. We're middle of the pack. Crane can afford more. Let's extend Breggy and Tucker.

I don't think you can use that data to infer Crane can afford a ton more.

ML Payroll =/= total costs

I don't know, Breggy's reflexes seem to be aging quickly.

I know Kuchi is a FA, but with the switch to Daiken Park, we can still have the dancing girl gif!

Little man got all of that one. But between pimping and staring at the homer and that bat flip that put Singleton to shame, he better not dig in his next time up...

Rome was on Locked On Stros podcast yesterday and one thing he pointed out was Bregman's commitment to winning. Specifically, ex wants teams to show him how they are committed to winning over the life of his contract. While that seems obvious, Rome pointed out how the Astros may have a difficult time convincing Bregman there won't be a rebuild in 2 or 3 years. We may think the last decade is sufficient but he's a smart guy. I could see him pointedly asking if they are extending Tucker and Framber. It's pretty obvious the answer to that question is no so we can either lie (and have him pissed off if he resigns) or we tell him a hard truth that likely pushes him elsewhere.

This would also likely limit our moves in other ways. On the one hand, I could see the team justify trading Framber and Tucker while backfilling with that money in free agents like Kooch, Walker, Adames, etc. Stay competitive this year but keep long-term focus. However, would those guys sign here after you trade those guys? Would they sign here knowing those guys are gone in 12 months?

It's been awfully quiet.. haven't heard much buzz or anything in a while on my end. I need Astros content.

do we expect Bregman to make a decision before Christmas?

I see it playing out 2 ways. 1. He sees little interest and signs back with Houston quickly. 2. He waits it out til the very very end.

Unfortunately, i lean towards #2. Bregman gets drawn out for a while because the market isn't there for him. I won't be shocked if he's another Bellinger, Chapman, Snell, Monty type deal if he's not willing to accept less than 250-300 M. The fact 350 M was floated as comp is absolutely ludicrous.

My hope is that we don't wait on him but move forward with an answer at a corner. Then at the end of the offseason if Bregman is still around you get him at a better value. How nice would it be to bring him back and land Walker?

Option 2. He didnt hire Boras to take 6/150.

We were watching tv when at the bottom of the screen it announced the MVPs. My wife says "Aaron Judge, almost valuable player….what does that mean?" I tell her its AL most valuable player. I like the way she read it.

Heyman confirming what I posted a couple weeks ago in regards to the Astros offering Bregman.

It's going to be very interesting.

I'm not really worried about the Tigers or Red Sox going way over the top on our offer.

6/180?

Did not expect Crane to go that far, but that's a good offer if true.....(for Bregman, not sure about the Astros long term)

Not quite 180.

Probably not too far off.

That's a very fair offer for Bregman. May not be the best he can get, but it ain't chump change either...and there's benefits to staying in Houston (legacy, taxes, etc).

I don't suspect the offer will change, probably pretty close to final offer like they did with Correa. These players trying to go for higher amounts doesn't always work out. Correa probably wishes he accepted Houston's offer.

If he walks, he walks....can't tell Altuve we didn't try.

Bellinger took a giant step back last year after a pretty strong 2023. Plus I don't want to get bronchitis booing him 4 times a game.

His 2023 was fake based on his batted ball metrics. Teams are finding out even these short term deals with player opt outs aren't so fun.

Yup. I didn't want to sign him last year when it was an option. I'm completely out on him.

I would still take him but he'd have to be cheap in prospects and the Cubs would need to take on some money. He'd be awesome to platoon in CF and 1B.

Platooning him at 1B makes Jon dead weight.

I still think the easy (AKA cheap) solution there is to find a RHH 1B and platoon that person with Jon as LHH.

Correct. Jon would go bye-bye in my scenario. You can't justify a player like Beli to be a part-time 1B. His ability to play CF & 1B while being a plus hitter makes him valuable.

We have the RHH platoon in Dezenzo, Whitecomb, and or Caratini for 1B. I don't think we can justify a roster spot for a RHH platoon 1B that can't do much else.

Was able to cross check this and confirm with another source last night and it's only a matter of time before this gets out.

The Astros offer to Bregman is 6 years and $156M.

It's going to be really interesting.
