sigh...3-0 already

Rangers not making hay against a team they should beat. Know there are players coming back, but may well be too late, too little.
What is OPS+? Seems like they add a new metric every year. On base plus slugging_______gigem1223 said:
Looks like ole Kizzy is done for. We just acquired Carson Kelly from the Tigers. He's having a solid season. Batting .242 with an OPS+ of 101

On the positive side, Jung began a rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco on Friday night. He went 1-for-3 on Friday and 1-for-4 with a hit-by-pitch on Saturday.

Interesting article on Carter and how it affects us at the trade deadline. Also, this nugget on Jung. Damn it - getting hit by pitches in a rehab assignment!Quote:

The Rangers have made their first trade of deadline season. They’ve acquired catcher Carson Kelly from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for C Liam Hicks and RHP Tyler Owens.

Kelly, 30, has a .738 OPS vs. RHP this season. That would rank fourth among qualified Rangers batters.

Pretty sure I saw on twitter he got hit again today as well.
Josh Jung’s first PA tonight in Frisco: HBP. Second in three games. In 636 MLB PA, he’s been hit only 5 times. Up next, Cody Freeman hit in the same spot with the same pitch by Tulsa/LAD righty Kendall Williams. Freeman politely escorted to 1B by plate ump.

Thanks for clarifying. Damn, Heim is definitely down this season. In fact, pretty much every one of our hitters seems to be down from last year with the exception of Josh Smith.gigem1223 said:
Normalized OPS across the league. A league average player will have 100 OPS +
Carson Kelly wRC - 106 with a 1.7 war
Jonah Heim wRC - 75 with a .2 war
Puts into perspective how poor of a season Heim is having.
Needs to be on a plane to St. Louis in the morning before he gets hit by more pitches in AA.Jimtim1216 said:
Jung is 2 of 3 tonight with a double and 2 RBI's.
