I thought this might be the year Huff actually get a real chance in the bigs, guess not.

This series ended up being very disappointing.

No obese Framber. No Verlander. We even got to face a kid who was totally out of his element and overmatched.

All we could muster is 2 wins. On top of that, when we got the first 2 wins it seems like we just propped up our damn feet and stopped hitting the ball hard.

I was ok with a split coming into the series, but with the pitching we faced and starting out winning the first 2. It just leaves a nasty taste in your mouth.

Get used to no Verlander. He's pretty much done.

And Valdez might be for this season.

Disappointing performance after destroying their stupid asses the first two games, but whatever. Oakland comes in town next.

I caught a Steve Buechele foul ball my very first live Rangers game in the old Arlington stadium. I was in my 20's, but trust me your boy will remember this forever! Awesome!

And if not that, a guy like Hedges that is entertaining from the dugout.

I am an Astros' fan, but I live in Round Rock. Even after the continuous flips of the Round Rock Express, we continue to go to games every year, no matter who the team is associated with. Sam Huff has a monster bat and I can't figure out why he isn't on the 40 man for the Rangers.

The big bats haven't really gotten going yet this season. The long ball is lacking. The games they've scored runs are the games they stay patient at the plate and draw walks. The Jung injury was a big loss cuz he was smoking hot when he got hurt.

He's been up in spurts but has never really been given a real opportunity. Personally, I would've liked to see him backup Jonah but the front office had other plans.

And again, down by 5 swinging at first pitches. Just a dumb approach all around tonight.

Split with Houston. Many of us said we'd take that going into the series. On to Oakland.

I have seen Sam jack a homerun 500 feet to center, he just crushes the ball. I haven't noticed anything glaring with his catching abilities, either. My wife's uncle made it to AAA, I am friends with Jordan Danks and some other ex-MLB players. You would be shocked by the politics and the control/money issues involved with some of these decisions.

Jordan hit a walk-off HR for the White Sox and he was sent back down the next day. He told me any time he hit a HR, they were sending him back down.

I am wondering if it's some fit issue, money/control issue, when it comes to Sam?

Huff has had several shots at the MLB level, but hasn't been able to hit. He may end up being a AAAA type guy who can't quite make it to the next level. Or maybe he will figure it out, but MLB off-speed eats him up.

He's played in 75 games at the MLB level and batted .262 with a .776 OPS. I'd take that production from a young back up catcher every day.

Been reading and soaking up a lot of MLB content to start the season, and one other thing about Jung getting injured that really sucks is that he was perhaps lining himself up for one of those modern young guy contracts of ~5 years ~100 million (give or take), that would make him a cornerstone piece of this franchise for the next handful of years, but now that is completely out of the door. He obviously would've needed to stay healthy this whole year and continued to perform, but he was setting himself up to be in that spot at 26 years old.

Additionally, I think Jung getting hurt like this again does put his financial future and how he'll get paid with the Rangers in question, a lot more.

Somehow missed this, but Foscue to the IL with an oblique strain. Wendzel was called up in his place.

I don't disagree with you. However, he won't be Arb eligible until 2026, so he still has some time.

When guys like Sandler talk about Jung, they say he has aspirations to be one of the greatest 3B and he puts the work in to show it.

At some point, you have to believe he'll have an injury free season. If he put it together, he may still get paid.

The LAD didn't want to pay Seager because of his history of injury. Many thought the Rangers were crazy for signing Seager. Now, they haven't been wrong, per se... but we did ride him to a WS Championship.

Hoping Jung can get back soon.

Luckily Jung injuries have been kind of freak. Broken bones isn't a "can't stay healthy" thing like soft tissue stuff.

Just bad luck IMO. Same with his thumb injury

WOW... I didn't get to see the game (ended up having to sell my txts). The radio indicated Heaney got real frustrated with the Ump.

T1, you have 1 out and man on 1st. You think you ring up the next batter, but the Ump walks him. You think you ring up a guy that should be the 3rd out and the ump sees it differently and he gets a FC and another run scores.

How are back-to-back games so egregiously missed.

Nagler

It was a pretty rough start to the game. Heaney never seemed to shake it.

Missed calls 1 and 2 were real back breakers.

And it could all be solved with some pretty simple technology.
AgBQ-00

The missed calls in the first rattled Heaney. He never got over them. Of course he needs to work on being able to shake that off and move on. But you could tell the whole night he was off after those misses.

Maybe. But consistency has been Heaney's issue his entire career, so it's hard to say.
Flounder Dorfman

It had me rattled. No doubt about that.

And I know it's early, but does it seem like to anyone else that the umpiring has taken a step back this year? These missed calls are bad. Like above normal bad.

I don't know that much has changed at all. I do think that having the strike zone on the screen has made it much more apparent along with other information that's available.
