Already one error. We have to be close to the league leader right?

While they would never do it, that isn't much different than when pitchers used to bat. They would often be sent to the plate with the instruction to not swing, which made it all the funnier when occasionally a wild pitcher would walk his counterpart instead of obtain the essentially free strikeout.

But yeah, a position player might take it a bit more personally than a pitcher!
Probably not terribly different from putting your defensive SS or C hitting well below the Mendoza line in the 9 spot behind the pitcher. Not exactly a glaring endorsement of your confidence in the hitter, but there was also some logic behind it by potentially putting somebody who could run on base ahead of the top of the order.

Kessinger?! Just play with 8 and take the out. At least it won't cost you a GIDP from that worthless toothpick of a bat.
So that brings up a question. With our proficiency at GIDP, if teams are allowed to intentionally walk hitters, hypothetically, could a team take a ghost out to skip a batter that is more likely to GIDP than to get a hit and RBI? Not sure any skipper would ever be brave enough (or stupid enough based on how it would likely impact the skipped player's mentality) to do it, but I have to think the analytics might suggest it might be the better option with some of our guys at the bottom of the lineup.
Is this a real question?
Not really. More of a thought exercise about what the analytics would say if it were a real option.
Wouldn't it be better to just tell the hitter not to swing the bat and at least possibly still draw a BB?
Not sure some of our guys could be counted on not to swing if they saw one of those sweet looking sliders in the other batter's box.

In errors? No, we are one of the best. But errors are rarely the best way to judge a team's defense.

I looked it up earlier this week. Still better than league average.

What was that second called strike to Pena?! MLB shows that as maybe worst miss of the season bad....

Nevermind, they updated it to swinging strike. Showed called strike live.

Heyward is about to get a lot of PT with Chas being out.

Hate to say it but he doesn't have it. His bat looks like he's swinging in water instead of air it's so slow.

I would be playing Gamel every day until Tucker can play in the field.

The A's hitting coach takes the exact opposite approach of the Astros'. They don't swing at anything.

The Kessinger callup puts him getting a hit this year back in play on Astros' bingo. 3 people picked that.
The A's having a chance to sweep today is also a live square.
As is the White Sox edging closer to 121 wins.
A photo finish in the inaugural year of Astros bingo is nigh.

I don't know if he would've scored but he didn't help himself rounding second.

He slowed down to look over his shoulder after rounding second. Terrible fundamentals, and it cost the Astros with Taqueria Arandas choking away another RISP chance.
