Just realized I didn't address the A's portion of this.

I haven't had any names mentioned to me, but Jack Sears would make sense as a backend starter who can eat innings.

That said, the interest in Brent Rooker is very real and they've had several conversations with the A's on him.

Rooker sounds like a move for this year and post tucker. And since he's a RHH corner OF that means either Chas is gone or Jake is gone and Chas is in CF full time. If they get Rooker I'm leaving Jake in CF. Love ya Chas but you are the odd man out.

Find a RHH guy to play 1B. I'm begging you Dana. Find someone to split time with Big Jon.

And find a starter who can eat innings.

We have a RHH to play first. Multiple in fact. Both the catchers and Dubon

Don't get me wrong. I love what Dubon brings in terms of roster flexibility. But he's not what I want from a RHH 1B.

I think the Rooker interest means two things. Either...

1. They think he can play first base (he played some first in the minors) and he may be the long term answer there as he has years of team control.

Or

2. They anticipate moving an outfielder (Chas, Jake, Loperfido) for an upgrade elsewhere. I know Loperfido's name has come up a lot in trade talks. It wouldn't be fun to move him, but it could make sense if you got Rooker and included Joey in a deal for an arm with team control.

Rooker would be nice if the price is right

I hate the idea of getting rid of Loperfido. He's been good and has a lot of upside. He's the Tucker replacement IMO

no, it will be in St. Pete. They will still not have crowds at the game (after the newness wears off).

The stadium needs to be in Tampa. Although the Tampa/St. Pete geography is such that it's difficult to place a stadium that doesn't make it very problematic for a decent part of the population base.

I don't think it's as simple as handing someone a 1B mitt and writing their name on the card.

The footwork, timing, skill set accepting throws in the dirt all take time to get right. If they haven't done it before I don't think you are just moving someone there.

Rojas in the two-hole is certainly a choice.

Robles has been decent for them since coming over, I think. Speed at the bottom of the lineup.
