Chandler was just on 790, said there gonna try for 2 starters. Talking about looking at the angels, Rockies and A's.

I don't know that there's anyone there that I'd want

Sure there is. They aren't looking for an ace.

Quantrill is someone they've inquired about. Tyler Anderson as well.

Are they good enough to help us win games though? We need more than someone to just eat innings

I like both ok. They are in garbage orgs so you also have to think of what can be unlocked. When I looked at Quantrill, what stood out is his sinker has been awful but has historically been solid to good. Can that be fixed? His splitter has been elite this year and he's had years where is cutter is excellent. Just seems like a guy where if you can get those three pitching working at the same time he could be very solid.

Anderson has an elite change up but not much else. Think you get him to eat innings but also be your bullpen lefty in the playoffs.

Wonder if he'll be interested in a coaching position now

A dead last franchise had the balls to do what a WS contender did not. Did it cost the Astros a title? Who knows

Tyler Anderson would be a great get.

I also like Matt Moore from the Angels.

There are pieces there worth adding.

AJ Puk has been much better now that he's back in the pen. He would be a nice get as a power lefty arm in the pen with some control.

It'll be interesting to see how we swing addressing all the beds we have, including those outside of starting pitching

Astros have an opportunity take matters into their own hands against Seattle this weekend. Hopefully it's a series win and a 1 game lead coming out of the series.

Impossible for us to come out of it with a 1 game lead, but I will be happy being tied and ecstatic with a 2 game lead!

He's had a couple decent starts this year. Maybe we give him a look as a cheap option to fill some innings

He has?

Shutting out the Dodgers in LA is pretty decent I'd say.

Oh yeah, duh. My maths weren't working very well on that post.

They're also serious about adding a bat. I've had Yandy Diaz mentioned to me as well as Isaac Paredes.

Chandler:

Quote:

Inquiring about Tampa Bay Rays All-Star Isaac Paredes would accomplish it. Paredes' offensive profile perfectly fits Minute Maid Park and he's under club control for three more seasons. That he plays both first base and third base could be appealing to an Astros team bracing for Alex Bregman's impending free agency.

If Houston does explore the first base market, either Paredes or Rays teammate Yandy Daz are ideal targets...

Hmmmm......

Do they have the capital to get paredes? They can't give up their young mlb pitching which they actually need more of.

Did you see Dana's draft picks he made just earlier this week?

I meant the young pitching on the team right now. If any of them go that's a massive hit to the team this year.

I think we can include a young pitcher like Spaghetti or Bloss in a deal if we're getting a proven controllable vet back.

I wouldn't give them up for a rental.

Arrighetti's name has come up a lot in discussions.

If they think he's approaching his limit and can acquire a veteran guy to add to the back of the rotation, it would make sense if that's what it takes to upgrade the lineup. Don't think they would do it for a rental though.

Arrighetti has a pretty high ceiling if he can locate, but it's possible they don't envision his control getting much better long term. I trust Dana on these things.

Remember- Blubaugh and Ullola are very close and I think they both debut sometime next year (or even this year for Blubaugh.

The question is with LuAce suffering a setback and LMC never going to pitch again (a little hyperbolic but not really), can we afford to give up a contributing arm right now?

This was my thought. Seems Dana knows other teams like our pitching so he's gonna have to backfill.

Hate to lose the Professor in a trade, but some key deadline moves could make all the difference down the stretch this year. Dana helped make it happen for Atlanta's last title.
